As I mentioned in my article last post Last week I finished a group ride after falling while getting off my bike. I landed hard on my butt and head. My helmet protected my head well and later that day I bought a replacement with a higher safety rating from a bike shop. Thanks to the helmet, my head barely hurt. I suffered a whiplash which luckily didn't affect my cervical spine, but it did make my neck muscles sore for a few days. My back is fine, no fractures, but the natural padding provided by my hip muscles takes the brunt of the damage, so those muscles are very sore. I rode it easy for a few days but was still able to work my upper body hard. Yesterday was my first longer, harder ride and everything felt better. It's nice to learn from the mistakes I make and bounce back from them.
