When Roland Emerich made his scientific adventure in 1994 Stargate, he probably never predicted the widespread media saga. In fact, after the film proved to be a modest success in box office, there was talk of making A whole trilogy "Starghat". Instead, Brad Wright and Athonatan Glasser took the task of continuing the story of Emerich. The couple was overseen by Stargat SG-1, a TV show that began in 1997 and turned around the same team from the film, following their exploitation through the universe while exploring strange foreign worlds using the Stargat portal. Kurt Russell may refuse to repeat his lead role as Colonel Jackec O'Neal For the franchise, but Wright and Glasser had the McGuart Starwear Ricard Dean Anderson to help them move their series to success. Indeed, the show proved to be a cult hit that lasted 10 seasons ago Sci-Fi channel (now Syfy) canceled "SG-1" In 2007.
But that was not the end of the story "Stargat". During the time, SG-1 caused several spin-offs, especially with a series of live-acting "Stargat Atlantis", which debuted in 2004. The animated Stargate Infinith series has also begun to broadcast during the years of "SG-1", although some fans do not consider the canon. Even after the SG-1 was canceled, the franchise was constantly returning with two direct films with direct TV and more live series in the form of Stargat Universe in 2009 and Stargate Origate in 2018.
After the cancellation of Stargat Universe in 2010, however, the entire saga remained uncertain, as the series ended in Clifancher, which seemed condemned to condemnation. While comic books have since tried to continue the story, they did not include the creators of the series. But if Wright got on, at least we would see the "universe", "Atlantis" and "SG-1" wrapped much nicer through a film that was a shelter before there was a chance to start.
Season 2 of the Stargate Universe ended on Clifancher that was never resolved
Today, the Stargate Empire makes up the film by Roland Emerich, multiple TV series and direct-home-dominated media films, and killed comics, video games and books. With such a huge media space, Looking at the franchise "Starghat" in a row It has become a confusing perspective to say at least, especially when unsolved stories are involved. But SG-1 co-creator Brad Wright, who continued to co-create Atlantis and Universe, at least had plans to round off his contribution to Stargat-Summer.
While Stargate SG-1 and Stargat: Atlantis and both focused on teams that used the portal device of the same name to pass the universe, Stargat Universe, strange enough, was a very different series. There was a research team stuck in the fate of the spacecraft as they tried to find a way to return through billions of light years on Earth. Led by scientist Dr -Nicolas Rush (Robert Carlil), the crew was sent to the research initiative to investigate ways to allow travel through remote distances using Stargate. But after the planet exploded, group members used a mattress to escape, landing on the detrimental fate. Season 2 sees that crew member Eli Wallace (David Blue) proposes a festive jump, which shows that group use of pieces of entry for three years in order to end the trip. Although they are moving forward with the plan, one of the floor has proven to be defective, leaving the group to decide who should stay out and try to fix the floor with just two weeks before they have to exclude life support. Eli claims to have the best chance of fixing the floor and therefore stays out of the track before the final of Season 2 closes with him looking at the stars from the deck to bother the ship.
Unfortunately, the show was unintended before it could reveal if Eli had fixed the floor to survive, leaving fans to ask What could be the season 3 "Stargat Universe". Well, if Wright was given green light for his ambitious film project, we would find out.
The movie "Starghat" that was never
Even before the final of Season 2 of the Stargate Universe broadcast on 9.05.2011, the series was canceled, with Sefi announcing on December 16, 2010 that it had not collected the third season series. Although Mark L. Haynes and JC Vaughan tried to continue the story after the 2 "Universe" season, we never received an official sequel.
But Brad Wright at least tried to come up with a decision at the last minute when he learned that the "universe" had ended prematurely that would unite all three live performances with Stargat action (at that time, Origins was not created) . Talking to Gate World in 2023, Wright revealed that he had set up the production company MGM TV on the idea, which would see the characters of "SG-1" and "Atlantis" to return to save the crew of the fate of "Universe", giving the franchise as it existed in that time, appropriate sending. The co-creator explained that "he had just begun to write" and imposed MGM to allow him to use existing Sets of Stargat for the project before being dismantled. Wright recalled his approach:
"If I can get a script in your hands fast enough, I bet I can get the cast of 'Sgu ' And bring the ship enough members of the other play that I could at least give us a two -hour movie to finish, or a 90 -minute movie to finish 'Sgu ' And finish the story we tried to tell. "
Unfortunately, Wright's fate of the Stargate Universe was sealed.
Brad Wright's rejected film was not completely kicked
As Brad Wright recalled in an interview with the gate, his original idea was pretty cruel. However, there was a seed of a story that included use Dr -Meredith's Rodney McKay of David Hewlett -SG -1 -Lik and who continued to appear in 100 episodes of the series:
"I left the rough idea I had for it - and it was rough. I mean, I wrote as soon as possible. I didn't board it. I just had this structure in the head and the concept of the characters from the other series I had to enter. And I started To expose it, and started with McKay and began (with a) recognition that fate is in trouble. "
For regret, Wright was not even able to collect an appropriate first draft of the script before the MGM pulled the plug. "Like two weeks in the process, I found out that it would not happen," Wright said. "There is a time when the desire to finish something does not rely on financial resources to do so. And here he was already moving when I found out they were not interested. "
How Siffs Noticed the DVD -the market dropped a decline at a time when Wright lowered his film, which probably played in MGM's decision not to move forward with the project. Since Sifi has already canceled the "universe" after only two seasons, in any case, I can't imagine that the prospect of a series based on the series was once all attractive to start - at least not for MGM or the network. For fans, however, Wright's vision has never come true will remain a tragic moment in the huge Saga "Starghat" as Eli's decision to stay behind because of members of his crew colleagues.
