In October 2014, Kesha filed a lawsuit against Dr. Luke, charging him with sexual assault and battery, sexual harassment, emotional abuse and violation of the California Business Practices Act. She instructed that dr. Luke drugged and raped and emotionally manipulated her during their professional relationship, which began when she signed to her label, Kemosabe Records, at age 18.

Dr. Luke denied the allegations and filed suit against Cash for defamation and breach of contract, alleging that the allegations were fabricated in order to be released from the record deal.
