Marvel star Benedict Cumberbatch has shared details about his character Doctor Strange's appearance in the upcoming Avengers: Judgment Day movie.

Cumberbatch was originally supposed to be a part of the fifth "Avengers" movie, but that will no longer be the case due to a change in plans.

In the movie "Avengers: Judgment Day" Robert Downey Jr. return to the franchise to portray the villain, Doomsday, after playing Iron Man/Tony Stark for years.

Cumberbatch recently had an interview with Diversity's Sundance Cover and shared details about his Marvel character, Doctor Strange, appearing in the next "Avengers" movie.

The 48-year-old actor revealed that the keeper of the Time Stone will not be in "Avengers: Judgment Day."

After realizing he had just shared a movie secret, Cumberbatch exclaimed, "Is that a spoiler? Shit!" However, he went on to explain why Doctor Strange will not be in the next Avengers installment.

According to Cumberbatch, plans for the film changed after Jonathan Major was fired after being convicted of assaulting an ex-girlfriend.

Majors' character, Kang, was supposed to be the main antagonist for the next phase of "The Avengers," but the franchise went in a different direction after his legal troubles.

Cumberbatch said Doctor Strange's absence from Doomsday was because "the character doesn't fit this part of the story."

Despite Doctor Strange's absence from "Doomsday," Cumberbatch has made fans realize that they will be seeing more of his character in the future.

He shared that Doctor Strange is "in a big way" for the franchise's sixth installment, "Avengers: Secret Wars," which is slated for release in 2027.

Cumberbatch said of his character: "He's quite important to where things can go." He also hinted that there will be a third "Doctor Strange" movie, but didn't give too many details about it.

However, the actor praised Marvel for the collaboration, saying, "They're very open to discussing where we go next. Who do you want to write and direct next? What part of the comic do you want to explore so that Strange can continue to evolve?"

He added of his character: "He's a very rich character to play. He's a complex, contradictory, troubled man who has these extraordinary abilities, so there's a powerful thing to mess with."

During the interview, Cumberbatch revealed that he initially had a hard time figuring out how to be relaxed while filming the Marvel movies.

He admitted he was "a little stiff" in the first "Doctor Strange" movie and realized he should adopt a more relaxed approach to being a superhero after watching Tom Holland and Robert Downey Jr. banter. in "Spider-Man: Homecoming". "

He shared, "I learned a lot from seeing how relaxed and improvised they are. It's hard because you have a huge machine around you, but it's so important."
