According to McQuarrie, they held a small screening of the film during which the individual discovered that he was choking in a certain sequence.

Meanwhile, Tom Cruise is reportedly looking for a young actor to portray the early life of his character Ethan Hunt in future films.

In an interview with Empire MagazineChristopher McQuarrie, director of the upcoming "Mission: Impossible - Final Showdown," revealed that one audience member was blown away by the film's heart-stopping stunts during a screening.

"We had a little screening and someone said, 'I was choking during the whole sequence. I almost had a heart attack,'" McQuarrie said, per Radar games.

The 56-year-old director responded with a sense of pride, saying: "I thought, 'I guess we did something right.'

Known for performing nearly all of his death-defying stunts, the 62-year-old Cruise has consistently raised the stakes in the "Mission: Impossible" franchise.

Cruise has previously performed mind-blowing feats such as high-altitude skydives and motorcycle cliff jumps in past "Mission: Impossible" movies.

However, according to reports, the new film will see the movie star pull off his most daring stunt yet.

During Empire In the interview, McQuarrie also hinted that the upcoming installment may be the final film, and that it features the most challenging stunt he and Cruise have ever tackled.

Although McQuarrie remained tight-lipped about the details, he did not confirm whether it was this stunt that left viewers fearing for their health.

Cruise is reportedly looking for a young actor to play the younger Ethan Hunt in the next two "Mission: Impossible" films.

The insider said that the upcoming eighth and ninth installments will feature flashbacks to Ethan's youth, with the young actor appearing in the next film and playing a more prominent role in the ninth.

"They're going to start looking for a young star to take over the role and she'll appear a little bit in the next film and then more in the ninth. Unlike previous installments with loose connections, "Dead Reckoning" is a direct sequel to "Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning, Part 1" (2023).

Despite high expectations, "Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One" failed at the box office, grossing $570 million globally on a $291 million budget, according to Box Office Mojo.

This was a significant drop from the $791 million earned by its predecessor, "Mission: Impossible — Fallout (2018)," which was produced for just $180 million.

However, the film was well received by critics, with a significant portion of its inflated $291 million budget attributed to delays caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The film also faced stiff competition, debuting just a week before the much-anticipated "Barbenheimer" phenomenon -- Greta Gerwig's "Barbie" and Christopher Nolan's "Oppenheimer."

Originally billed as the final chapter of Cruise's Ethan Hunt, director Christopher McQuarrie later disputed those claims while promoting "Dead Reckoning Part One."

Cruise himself has since expressed interest in continuing Hunt's adventures, hinting at further missions even as he gets older.
