“I was determined to get pregnant as soon as possible. Because of my hormone levels, I wasn't candidate for IVF, But I tried fertility drugs like Clomid and procedures like intrauterine insemination (IUI),” Watts, 56, writes in her new book, Dare I say it: Everything I want to know about menopausewhich was published on Tuesday, January 21 "I would have bitten my dog's toenails if someone had told me it would help."
Watts wrote that she "regularly" tracked her ovulation and received scans for updates on her "follicle and egg formation." He added, “We will have sex at the right optimal moment for conception. None of that worked.”
The actress was 36 when she and Schreiber, now 57, started trying for a baby.
"I always dreamed that I would be a young mother but never got around to it," she wrote. “I had spent my entire adult life up to that point trying to avoid pregnancy, and so once I felt ready, at 36, I assumed I would get pregnant for my first time - maybe my second or third. Months passed. Nothing."
Throughout the process, she had a miscarriage.
Filming time prior commitmentIn a movie that Watts was riding a motorbike, the actress found out she was pregnant. She did her own stunts in the 2007 film and remained silent about the life she grew up with.

"I didn't want to tell anyone yet, because it was too early, and because I didn't want to be difficult, I continued," he wrote. "It was another example of how as women we often do things that put us at risk to be team players."
Watts and Schreiber welcomed their first child, Sasha, in July 2007. Their second child, Kai, was born in December 2008. (Watts and Schreiber ended their 11-year relationship in 2016. He has since married Billy Crudup. Schreber and wife Taylor Nigen Welcome a baby in August 2023.).

"I gave birth at 38, and had my second soon after, when I was 40. I guess my body somehow learned the baby-making program," she wrote. “I always knew I wanted more than one child, although I never expected it to happen so soon. I actually wanted more than two - but alas, time ran out by then."
