Gundam is one of the longest running sci-fi franchises since 1979. Mobile suit GundamAnd in that time, it has been filled with different timelines, but there is one that stands out among the others, for good and for bad. From War Gundam X It takes place in a post-apocalyptic world, exploring the franchise's themes of war and suffering in a different direction, after the damage has already been done. On paper, that sounds like a great canvas to paint another sci-fi series on, but in practice, every good idea is immediately ruined by the worst pacing and final disaster in franchise history.

The back third of the 36-episode series kicks into overdrive to make up for the good parts of the story and cram in 12 episodes, but not enough to redeem the show.

Short and underdeveloped

Cramming several episodes worth of character development, revelation, and mecha combat is incredibly boring, and clearly wasn't the original plan. Plots are not developed, but there is a conclusion, but only to accept the darkness and anger of the world. It ends on the hopeful, uplifting note of other Gundam shows. As a result, this is one of the most obvious entries in the long-running franchise, underrated.
