“My childhood home. A marvel of Spanish Revival architecture from the 1920s. Filled with too many incredible memories to count, it was one of the oldest homes in the Palisades and so spectacularly beautiful,” Joey captioned the post. It wasn't a palace but it was comfortable and lovely and unique and perfect to me."
The actress reflected on how much her home means to her in a poignant caption.
"A friend of mine growing up called it "the church" because the 14-foot ceiling with stained glass windows in the living room cast colorful shadows at the end of the day. And to me, it was sacred, a sanctuary where we felt safest. Christmas dinners, Easter egg hunts. , trick or treating, weddings, birthdays, baby showers… we celebrated the best moments of our lives there," Zooey wrote. "The family photos that lined the hallway, the artwork, the piano that I Learned to play, wedding china, furniture my great grandfather made… reminders of generations past: all lost in thin air.”
He continued: "I know we're not alone. Along with another beautiful LA neighborhood, Alta Dena, the streets of my childhood in Pacific Palisades have all been erased as we knew them. So many people have lost so much."
Joey went to pay tribute to those who supported him, his family and the community. He also gave a special shout out to the firefighters who continue to work tirelessly on the frontline, describing them as "true heroes".
“To all the people who showed up for us and our community and Los Angeles in general: thank you. To the firefighters who are working around the clock to keep everyone safe: You are our true heroes," Joey added. "The friends who were so wonderful to think of us during this time: you texted and called, came to visit, you fed us. Made it, you sent clothes to my parents who kept nothing, you humored us and you cried with us when we needed it. Your kindness was the salve that made these strangers bearable Lifted our spirits with kind gestures: You are the true meaning of community."
