General Hospital Co-lead author Chris Van Etten And Elizabeth Short For it does not hold back when it comes to their vision Long lasting ABC soap.

The pair teased fans about what to expect from General Hospital while in the writers' room, calling their version "volatile and sexy" in an interview in Port Charles. TV Insider Published on Wednesday, January 15.
“It's an incredible responsibility. We must respect the history of the show and the audience's love for it, as well as the work of those who came before us — all while creating new stories to challenge and grow its characters," they elaborated. "We write for such a talented cast. Pere, many of whom have embodied their roles for decades. It is humbling that we work every day to earn and maintain the trust of our audiences and colleagues."

Van Etten and Korte added that they never stop bouncing ideas off each other, and sometimes, the crazier the better.
“We keep the environment safe to express any idea, even ridiculous ones. Sometimes when we rein it in, the funny idea is the most exciting,” they said. “There are times when our ideas conflict; But in this situation we have room to talk through it and find common ground so we can move in a direction that speaks to the characters and the larger canvas. We listen to each other and never feel handled."
Van Etten and Court have a combined 35 years of experience General Hospital writers' room, and Korte feels their longevity and working relationship will serve them well in their current roles.

"I couldn't ask for a better collaborator and writing partner than Chris, who brings so much creativity, enthusiasm and experience to the work," he said. "I hope that my history with the show enables me to understand the characters, hear their voices clearly, honor their complex histories, and track those histories as we move them forward."
As for Van Etten, he called it an "honor" to work with Court, adding, "He has a steady hand, a lot of empathy and a great imagination."
General Hospital Airs weekdays on ABC and can be streamed on Hulu.
