Annette Harris, her adoptive mother and biological grandmother, reported her missing the same day. according to Wayne CountyJarvis Butts, who was in a relationship with Na'Ziyah's aunt, is accused of having an inappropriate relationship with the teenager after text messages allegedly exchanged between them were presented at a preliminary hearing.

As Na'Ziyah's story gained attention online, rapper Skilla Baby spoke out, calling for justice. On Wednesday, January 15, the Detroit manager shared a photo of Na'Ziyah. Instagram and announced that he would cover the expenses of the community gathering to honor his life.

According to CBS News, prosecutors have charged Jarvis Butts with first-degree premeditated murder, second-degree criminal sexual conduct and child sexual abuse. Butts will stand trial for the murder of Na'Ziyah Harris. Judge Aliyah Sabree sent the case to the 3rd Circuit Court for trial, describing Butts as "the monster in this picture."

"She (Na'Ziyah) deserved the love of her parents and everyone in her life. She was ignored. She was neglected, and you took full advantage of that. She wanted someone to love her, and she'll never know what that feels like. Praying I pray that all the victims who have come in contact with you and the young girls, and maybe the boys, will be healed," said Judge Sabree.

Prosecutors argued that evidence, including testimony from one of Jarvis Butts' business partners in November 2024, cell tower monitoring data and an eyewitness account placing Butts with Na'Ziyah on the evening of her disappearance. Additionally, several belongings of Na'Ziyah were reportedly found in areas visited by Butts after her disappearance. Authorities have previously accused Butts of sexually abusing two other girls in separate cases.

Eight witnesses have testified that Na'Ziyah's grandmother and aunt are involved. Na'Ziyah's aunt, Shannon Harris, stated in her testimony that she never suspected anything untoward and believed that the relationship between Jarvis and Na'Ziyah was a typical uncle-niece bond.
