Scarlett Vickers' mother, Sarah Hall, told authorities the father and daughter had been "messing around" in the kitchen. Halfway through the measure, Hall said Simon "didn't realize" he had "thrown something" at Scarlett.

Once paramedics arrived, Simon said Scarlett "landed" on him. The couple also alleged that Simon grabbed a spatula, not realizing a knife was "with him" and threw it at Scarlett.

"We were making tea, we were playing and we started throwing objects at each other," Simon told authorities.

He also revealed that he and his family were "drunk" after watching football.

"It wasn't even hard, it was nothing, I don't understand," Simon told police.

According to the outlet, Scarlett was reported dead at 11:50 p.m. Additionally, the 14-year-old was reportedly found on the kitchen floor of the home with an 11-centimeter-deep stab wound to the chest.

Simon Vickers is now on trial and has pleaded not guilty to murder and manslaughter.

However, the prosecutor believes that the wound of the 14-year-old was not "caused by an old weapon". Instead, they believe the knife was "firmly" in Simon's hand when Scarlett was stabbed.

"The prosecution says the wound is too deep to be accidentally inflicted," prosecutor Mark McKone told the court.

Per BBCSimon Vickers' barrister, Nicholas Lumley, said his client could "only explain" his daughter's death as "the result of a horrific accident at very close range in her family's small kitchen". Finally, the outlet added that the trial against the 50-year-old father continues.
