Unfortunately, that sentiment isn't reflected in the show's ratings — and that potentially spells trouble for Season 2 to materialize.

Minutes watched during the first week fell to a low of 382 minutes, down 20% from "The Acolyte" during its first seven days of release. When you remember that "The Acolyte" was canceled after one seasonthe future doesn't look too promising for the Skeleton Crew.

One saving grace for Skeleton Crew, however, is that the show has garnered heaps of fan and critical acclaim, which may inspire Disney to give it another shot. The Acolyte, meanwhile, has been bombarded with reviews from toxic fans, and the discourse surrounding the series has not been entirely positive. As it stands, Disney has yet to reveal its future plans for Ford and Watts' sci-fi adventure, but the creators hope to return to this world.

While Nielsen's streaming data gives fans reason to fear for the future of Disney+'s Star Wars: The Skeleton Crew , the show's creators are happy to return to the galaxy far, far away if the opportunity arises. While talking to TechRadarJon Watts revealed that their goal was to make more episodes, but they went into the first installment with the intention of telling a compelling story:

“Yes, we wanted to make sure this season had a satisfying beginning, middle and end. But if people want to see more Skeleton Crew, we'd be happy to do more."

In the same interview, Christopher Ford noted that he and Watts have some ideas in mind for the second season and are not ruling out the possibility of bringing those visions to life. However, the power is in Disney's hands right now, and history has shown that the House of Mouse is more than happy to cut projects that don't meet the expectations of its audience.
