Authorities have issued an arrest warrant for Kyren Lacy ESPN. Police accuse the 2025 NFL draft prospect of fleeing the scene without offering assistance. PEOPLE identified the victim as 78-year-old Herman Hall, a former Marine from Thibodaux, Louisiana.
Kyren Lacy was driving a 2023 Dodge Charger on Louisiana Highway on Dec. 17, state police said. Lacy "recklessly passed multiple vehicles, crossed the center line in the northbound lane and entered a no-passing zone at an unsafe speed." ".
Lacy was allegedly passing other vehicles when a northbound pickup truck suddenly braked and swerved to avoid a collision. According to ESPN, a 2017 Kia Cadenza was riding behind the pickup truck. The driver of the Cadenza swerved to the left to avoid Lacy in the Dodge Charger, crossed the center line and collided with a southbound 2017 Kia Sorento. Herman Hall was a passenger in the southbound Kia Sorento and later died from injuries sustained in the crash. ESPN also reported that the driver of the Cadenza suffered moderate injuries. Additionally, authorities say Lacy drove around the crash and drove away without stopping or reporting her involvement in the crash.

Kyren Lacy is charged with negligent homicide, felony hit-and-run and negligent operation of a vehicle, according to ESPN. The police have reportedly contacted the football player and his lawyer, asking them to hand themselves over.
However, Lacy's agent, Rock Arceneaux, said X (formerly Twitter) that it is "fully cooperating with authorities."
"We fully believe that the facts will ultimately prove the truth, but we respect the need for a full and thorough investigation." Arceneaux wrote in his statement.
