Widow of Stephen "tWitch" Boss, Allison Holkerdetailed why she wrote the memoir and revealed his drug addiction and past sexual abuse.

Holker recently gave an interview in which she revealed how she found out about TWitch's drug addiction after discovering several drugs in his shoebox.

However, she faced a backlash from the late professional dancer's family and many others, who felt her revelations were unnecessary.

On Wednesday, Holker shared a message on her Instagram stories explaining why she wrote the memoir.

She wrote: "To Stephen's fans and our family and friends, I want to make it clear that my sole intention in writing the book is to share my story and part of my life with Stephen to help other people."

Holker explained that she "never really knew what happened" and will never know even as she tries to "put the pieces together."

The dancer hopes that those who choose to read her book will see that her "intention is to celebrate the love and life" she shared with her late husband and their three children, Weslie, 16, Maddox, 8, and Zaia, 5. " and also the more complex aspects" of their lives.

The mother-of-three added: "I hope that by sharing our whole story maybe I can help someone else who might see themselves or a loved one in Stephen. By sharing I hope they might be able to catch some (of) the red flags I missed before be too late."

Holker further revealed that she has spent the past two years speaking with the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI), the Salomon Family Foundation and the Defensive Line Foundation to "better educate herself" on mental health issues so she can "share the warning signs." with others."

She wrote: "All my proceeds from this book will fund the mental health foundation I started in Stephen's honor, Move with Kindness."

Holker hoped that no one would lose another loved one to suicide.

She concluded: "I believe Stephen, given the choice, would choose to tell his story if it meant saving even one life. Much love to all those who have supported our family over the years."

Afterwards PEOPLE Magazine published an interview with Holker, several people lashed out at her on social media.

"Real Housewives of Potomac" alum Candiace Dillard was among the first to do so, calling Holker to X and questions her decision to reveal so much about her late husband and not protect his legacy or their children.

Dillard also wondered why Holker didn't go to a black-owned newspaper with her revelations, because they would have handled the tragic story with more care.

Meanwhile, tWitch's cousin, Darielle, punches Holker in the post on X for defaming his legacy, forcing his family to sign an NDA before his funeral and not allowing them to see his children.

Meanwhile, Courtney Ann Platt, a former contestant on "So You Think You Can Dance," publicly criticized Holker, describing her memoir as "unlikable, classless and opportunistic." She also called Holker a "bulldozer".

tWitch's brother, Dré Rose, also released a statement expressing his disappointment at the "disturbing lack of communication" between Holker and her late husband's family.

Rose said: "We have noticed a disturbing lack of communication and involvement regarding the children's activities and well-being. It is disheartening that their interactions with their grandmother and wider family are noticeably limited."

Holker did not respond to comments from Dillard, Dariella, Platt or Rose. However, when another dancer, Kelly Gibson, expressed her sadness at the situation, she responded to her comment.

Gibson commented a PEOPLE Magazine An Instagram post, directing her criticism of Holker: "This whole thing made me sad. He's gone. Why trash his name? This salary wasn't worth the shame on his name."

Holker replied: "I'll always love you. I'm just trying to help people feel safe to ask for help and support."

Since the backlash began, the 36-year-old has reposted messages of support from fans and mental health advocates on her Instagram Story.

She also revealed that she discovered tWitch was sexually abused by a male figure during her childhood.

Holker, whose memoir, "This Far: My Story of Love, Loss, and Embracing the Light," will be published Feb. 4, hoped to help others in similar situations by sharing tWitch's struggles.
