Barack Obama and Donald Trump to Viral Chat at Carter Funeral

Former President Jimmy Carter was killed Thursday (January 9) in Washington, D.C. Many notable politicians attended the funeral, including the former president. Barack Obama and candidate for president Donald Trump. Michelle Obama was not by her husband's side, but she seemed to agree with Trump's presence, however.

Aside from Michelle, The Associated Press reports that all living former presidents and their spouses attended Jimmy Carter's funeral. Barack and Donald sat in the pews of the Washington National Cathedral behind President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris and their spouses.

Live coverage of the service was on all social networks. But users especially LOVED the videos and photos of Barack and Donald chatting, smiling, and even laughing at the service!

At one point, Vice President Kamala Harris's reaction to the friendly energy behind her also drew plenty of backlash.

Who was at the other friendly funeral?

Despite the viral photos and videos, the AP said former Democratic President Bill Clinton and his Republican successor, George W. Bush, also spoke cordially with Trump. The president-elect also shook hands with his former vice president, Mike Pence. You may recall that Pence was a loyal ally until Trump refused to join his efforts to remain president after losing the 2020 election to Biden.

While Barack Obama, Bill and George seemed to have a friendly energy for Donald, Gov. Gavin Newsom recently returned Trump's shade. The day before Carter's funeral, the president-elect took to Truth Social to blame Newsom for the fires raging in California right now. In return, Gavin and his communications director accused Trump of playing politics in a deadly crisis.
