Strength training for the elderly – Effort is important – BionicOldGuy

I found an important study on Clarence Bass' website here. one study A survey of strength training among retirees found that hard training is crucial to maintaining muscle mass. The study compared a group that performed high-intensity resistance training with a moderate-intensity group and a control group that did not exercise. Muscle mass was effectively retained in the heavy resistance group after four years. The high-resistance group used weights, while the moderate-resistance group used resistance bands and bodyweight exercises. I want to clarify that you can still lift heavy things with resistance bands, you just need to use more resistance bands.

The bottom line is, be heavier! Clarence stressed this all the time, and I mentioned it once. It's great to see it proven in a definitive study like this, especially for us older adults.
