Recalling her chats with Markle, Lipscomb remembers Markle as a mother who was both compassionate and thoughtful.
"He didn't rush the conversation, even though I was taking his time," she shares "(Markle) was gracious, engaged and kind."
Lipscomb was compelled to speak out after seeing a negative article about Markle's upcoming TV show based on a sneak preview.
On January 2, Netflix was released First trailer of With love, Meghan. The nearly two-minute clip offers a glimpse into Markle's life in California — including a sweet moment with her husband.
According to Netflix's official logline, the show "reimagines the genre of lifestyle programming" by featuring Markle "mixing practical how-tos with friends and candid conversations."
After highlighting an article that said, "I'm already fed up with Meghan Markle's new Netflix series," Lipscomb said she decided to speak out.
"How are you going to criticize someone or judge a TV show before it airs?" She said “And let's talk about the bigger picture here — where are the black female-led shows and roles in the food world? Representation is already very low, and now, a show that is about food, culture and storytelling is being ripped away before it even gets a chance. It's not just about Meghan Markle. It's about a systemic problem in media and entertainment that continues to dismiss or trivialize efforts by women, especially women of color, to create something meaningful."
