I got this message in the second week and I felt like that. Damned. You can identify.
"... At the moment the biggest challenge is that I am full of time working the mother of two young boys and I am so damn exhausted. I am now on a string of life, devoting myself to everything and everything around me.
It is not just that it is difficult to find time to practice ... It is difficult to find energy.
It is also difficult to create a routine that I can hold, which I can simply do without thought, taking into account all the variables in my life. "
Small parental children are a particularly difficult period of time. There is a lot of variability of your routine, high demand for your time and attention, and not a lot of energy to lose.
Regardless of whether you are a parent, caretaker or just going through an incredibly busy season of life, trying to add a fitness routine for everything else, he can feel like a joke Jim Gaffigan: "You know what it is like to have five children? Imagine you ton it. And then someone gives you a child."
We all hear this sentiment with clients in our coaching program all the time.
So today I want to conduct you exactly how I help them to move in this intense period, while finding time to work on their health and fitness in a way that seems balanced to them.
Continuing the experiment "Matt stands in front of a white board in his office and registers video", I have accompanying the film with notes, so you can digest it in any format that works for you. ❤️ (The bonus points to anyone who recognizes where my T -shirt comes from!)
And if you are someone who tries to find coherence with training, answer this e -mail! I would like to see how I can help. 💪
Key challenges
If you tell me that you are a parent, I can immediately predict a few things:
- Highly variable schedule
- High time and attention requirements
- No predictable routine.
- (Periods) of low energy
I still remember talking to Mike (host Chasing podcast) And as he said: "This week is crazy, but next week everything will finally return to normal."
After a few weeks, I stopped him and said something like: "I think unpredictability is the only predictable thing."
Our mantra has become "not normal", And this was the key to his success in achieving 148 trainings this year (and counting!)
Strategies
Selection mode
If we know that every day is very variable, our plan must take this into account.
Start by creating a short and simple training that you can do within 5-15 minutes. (Like the implementation of the 1st round of this training.) It becomes a key element of the puzzle that you can fit on a crazy day.
When I worked in Force Fitness, I remember how I came from Kiddos after a long night, feeling absolutely dead to the world. Nowadays my boss And I would look at myself and say: "Turkish uprisings AND Farmer's leads? "Two moves to simply raise us and move for a few minutes, and then withdrawal for the day.
Accumulation
Training does not have to happen immediately. You can divide the training into mini-seession during the day or even a week!
The most important factor is to work, not in time. 💪
This is exactly the strategy that I use with new parents. We write a list of exercises and the target number of repetitions to be performed during the week. Then they press them as they can. If you want an example of what it looks like, shoot me and send me -mail, and I will gladly share a bit!
I am time
Sometimes it is very important to try to sculpt time in the schedule to focus only on you. This may mean asking a partner for help or making difficult decisions regarding compromises. This is not always possible, but it is still worth considering.
This is what we did with my client Michelle. It was difficult for her to adapt to training, so we went through several compromises that she could do. She asked her partner for support and was able to sculpt 20 minutes after work. She parked outside and practices in the garage. She was not a "home" until she passed the garage door.
I'm going, you go
If you can't beat them, join them! Invite children to participate with you.
Focus on more skills or play, which may be more engaging for them. Instead of optimizing "results", optimize in terms of fun and combination.
This is an option that was the most significant in my life. Part of mine Big why It connects with others and models healthy behaviors for my own kids. Although I still like to practice myself, finding more ways to involve my family made the journey even more satisfying. ❤️

And you have it! If you were my client, I would lead you through these similar steps
- We arrange your current schedule and very real challenges.
- We found out which strategy suits you best.
- Then I would write trainings and provide responsibility for removing thinking from a plate and help you stay on the right track. 💪
Regardless of whether you are a busy parent or just someone passing a feverish period in life, try this strategy and let me know how it will be!
