Season 2 of peace

This article contains spoilers To the "peacemaker" season 2, episode 4, "I should say the door".

The concept of a current multi-franchise movie series that we came across to call the "Cinema Universe"-It is still relatively relative in its infancy. Despite the decade -long and changing existence of things such as Marvel's Chinese universe and the universe that causes it, there is still a lot of experimentation and a cheating room on how every property chooses to deal with its growing continuity. The longest running franchises, such as the Jameseshes Bond films, the Halloween films and others, tend to choose a moment to stop continuity with the past, presenting certain new installments as starting points, whether it is through a remake. This may be the fastest and cleanest way to start fresh, but while the move releases the narrative, it means that part of the thematic and emotional resonance that can be lost over time.

The DC James Gunn Universe and Peter Safran, born of DC Extended Universe, is a fascinating case of a current universe that is moving a new path when it comes to continuity. While most of us initially assumed that Gun's "Superman" (and "Creature Commandos" would mark the breakthrough of the point for the non -permanent DCE, the second season of the "peacemaker" proved these assumptions wrong. As seen in the season so far, it feels like Gun takes a parallel universe approach to the merger of DCC and DCE. That is to say that we can assume that the events in that universe have conveyed the way we saw them before, unless otherwise stated. So, Gun Superman acts as a restart of that title, because the film clearly states that this is not the same Superman who has endured the events of "Man of Steel", "Batman Against Superman: Dawn of Justice" and so on. However, the "peacemaker" pulled only a few elements, and we looked at what changed. Here's the same thing: The "peacekeeper" is still a very extension Gun is the "suicide composition", Not only in Oreubov, but also in terms of its emotional and thematic continuity, too. In fact, much of this new season deals with the outcome of Choices made in the "suicide composition", Specifically, the murder of Rick Flam Runior (ELOEL KIN), which is both an exciting and narratively responsible decision by Gunn.

Transfering from DCU to DCU is not a jail card for peacemaker

Part of Gun's artistic motivation to make the "peacemaker" followed by Suicide Squad is a continuation of his appearance during his career and wrong characters. As with "Specialists" and "Super", "The Suicide Squad" Gun is for a group of superheroes and anticheroes on lists B and C and whose moral is definitely everywhere. The most brazen of the group, at least when it comes to morality, is the Peace worker himself (Johnon Senna), who, no doubt, follows the orders of team leader Amanda Valer (Viola Davis) to conceal all evidence of involvement in America in the government's secret project. One of the ways the peacekeeper is trying to secure this is by the murder of Flag, who was ready to go against Waler's orders after revealing the truth behind Project Starfish. While the peacekeeper is not the main villain of "Suicide Squad", he is essentially the character of the race, which is somehow even more pronounced for the audience. So, the "peacemaker", then, is Gun's experiment to see if he can take such an unusual character and make a loved one protagonist of another project.

Given the reception of both the first and now the second season of the "Peacemaker", Of course it can be said that the mission has been accomplished. What is impressive is how Gun had an obvious and lightweight pure slate to use for the title (and the entire ensemble of the Ne'er Do Wells show) with the series "DCEU move in DCU. It would be very possible for Gun to say that the" suicidal composition "had never happened. Instead, Gun relies on the 2021 film and even harder to twist the emotional knife. Now, the peacemaker does not have to be considered only by the killing of the Runior flag and to oppose the subsequent search for revenge taken by Rick Fley (Frank Grillo) against him. He must also reconcile the fact that the woman in which they are for Inuubi, Emilia Harcurt (Ennenifer Holland), was a lubricity of Flagunior with the flag before she died. Then there is the question of the alternative universe that the peacekeeper found thanks to his father's stolen technology, in which Flagon Runior is still alive and is about the harcurt of that universewho was formerly involved in the peacekeeper of the Universe Chris Aka, whom the peacekeeper of our universe killed in self -defense at the beginning of this season. By maintaining Chris Ziva's mistake, while at the same time introducing a parallel example of a peacekeeper who kills the wrong man (a version of himself, damn subtlety), Gun uses the material made for DCE to feed the DCC in a smart and emotionally vibrant way.

What else can be kept in DCU from DCE?

While all this may seem confusingWe generally know where the events of the "peacemaker" and his basic characters are. However, the jury is still out of which other characters and future projects within the DCC will collect the cherry elements from DCE to carry them forward. Chances are that the big characters of marks, ie. Superman, Batman, the flash and so on, will not be in any kind of continuity with their exploitation of DCE. However, Rick Flagunior's reception for June dating Moon Aka Enchantres by Suicide Squad in 2016 (played by Kara Delevingn) in "Peacekeeper" raises the question of whether that film is also a loose part of the continuity of DCC. We know that Gun went to the record to confirm that "Blue Beetle," DCE in 2023, is still mostly Canon to DCCAlso. So, it's at least two, and potentially three, DCE's films that keep the canonical elements for the DCI to move forward.

The big question is whether this parking approach to building the DCC will end up paying off or can it become a bigger headache than it is worth. There is no doubt that the general audience is far greater to understand these advanced mechanics of storytelling than they would be a decade ago or so, especially thanks to MCU's multi -center saga, bringing a bunch of previously established heroes, such as Patrick Stewart Professor, Xaviyer and Wesli. Although Gun himself is likely to get a headache or two after talking to the media about who and what canon is (if he is not already), the secret to all this in the long run is something that the director has already discovered, and that is not to be important as long as the election serves in the story and the character in an attractive way. One is to maintain continuity just to calm down literal thinking. However, the "peacemaker" illustrates that Gun was not interested in taking any shortcuts or to tear boxes, but instead wished to maintain the moral and emotional weight and tension that makes the "peacekeeper" so attractive. Although it is still unclear how much Chris can be trusted, it is obvious now that the audience is in great hands with Gun and the "peacemaker".

The new episodes of "Peaceuar" appear on Thursday at HBO Max.
