Kelly Rili will no doubt meet supporters of the Taylor Sheridan television, as he played the morally complex Beth Dutton for all five seasons of the neo-Western Yellowlston series. The owner of the relentless ranch has become such a popular character among the list of the show that she even has a spin-off series of her own worksAlong with Cole Hauser as Beth's husband, Rip Wheeler. Outside her television work, Raleley's filmmaking includes collaborations with directors like Oeo Wright ("Proud and Prejudice"), quarreled ("Eli"), Kenneth Branag ("persecuting Venice") and Guy Richie ("Sherlock Holmes"). But her pairing with director Jameseiyes Watkins not only serves as one of her best performances, but is one of the most unbelievable horror films since the 2000s. Let's talk about "a lake".

The 2008 horror-triller sees Enen (Kelly Rili) and Steve (Michael Fassbender) driving to the English village for a weekend holiday. Outside the hustle and bustle of city life, the distance of a lake serves as the perfect place to suggest Steve. The peace and silence of the happy couple seems to be great, until a group of local teenagers have set up a camp on the other side of the beach. Their loud music, along with an aggressively released dog, breaks the romantic magic, to say at least. It is mostly a kind of discomfort that you would expect from teenagers with nothing to do. But things are starting to escalate in a way that no one is preparing.

The couple's tent is upset in the middle of the night, their food is infected with insects, and their car is taken for Radador. Steve faces children to return the car, leading to a fight that ends in the dog's death. Brett (Jackec O'Connell), the sociopathic de facto leader of this youthful collective, considers this a point for any return and waging a war of the couple. What follows is a frightening survival movie that sees both fractions make a series of horrible decisions that will affect the rest of their lives.

I remember I was incredibly skeptical when it was reported that Watkins will glue the remake of Christian Taffrrup's Danish thriller "Don't talk is not evil." It almost seemed to be a fool to potentially descend one of the most memorable horror films since the 2020s, but after seeing "a lake", it became easy to see how the project came. Watkins' brutality smart weaves class, peer pressure and cycles of violence in a wicked survival thriller causing the dark sadism of "straw" and "deliverance". It's a much more interesting movie from the horror movie "Screw the Kids" I was expecting. "One Lake" received excellent reviews after the initial release, but still had air of controversy - not so much because of the extended torture sequences, but because of his statements about the class.

"One Lake" was considered some critics as a nihilist condemnation of the British working class that went too far. It is easy to read given the film, on its surface, it is for a pretty good pair to become a source of cruelty once they enter the lower class village. But "a lake" is very different from that. It is a frightening film for any party that makes the wrong decisions, leading to even more cruelty. As members of the audience, we can see all the ways in which this could be avoided. The couple is not pure here, because Steve not only digging his heels, he also advocates breaking and getting into one of their houses as some rebuilding of his masculinity.

Raleley is great at this because, unlike Steve's Steve, she plays a teacher who understands the complexity of the emotional imbalance in adolescents. She is the most rational character in the film, so it is fatal to see her witness as more disturbing works that destroy her world. Even children are not presented as sadistic, bloody monsters. They know they are too deep at some point and see their overtime conscience because they continue to quarrel against their slanderers.

Within all the checkpoints of the "Lake" genre is another terrible support for the nature of responsibility. The opening of the film is watched by Enen and Steve stands with a restaurant in the open, where some children run. Steve's instinct is to tell his potential spouse that they should be slaps, just to have the fragrant parent through their child's face to kill the sentence in her paths. It reflects the cruel finale in an interesting way that I do not dare to spoil it. Let's just say Nihilist series of Watkins events, leaves you to feel worse than you got in. And it hurts a lot more because it gives Reali such a vulnerable performance that it is difficult to shake.
