In the first recorded pilot "Star Trek", "Cole", Pike (played by Effe Hunter) was the lead of the series, not Captain Kirk (William Shatner). The company visits the planet Talos IV, home to telepathic aliens holding a prisoner. But The "cage" was rejected as a pilot and went without power.

"Star Trek" was raised after a second -handed pilot, but the show still found a way to turn on the "cage". As the basic "Trek" Canon is now, Pique was the captain of the company in front of Kirk, and the events of Cage came several years before the "original series". The two -year -old episode "The Menagerie" revealed that during a training session with some Starfleet cadets, Pique (John Kenny standing for Hunter) was blown by delta radiation left by scar, motionless and non -verbal. The episode ends by being returned to Talos IV to live in a comforting illusion.

Back to "Star Trek: Discovery", Pique suffered a foreseen for his future. He was haunted by this throughout the "weird new worlds" season 1, but accepted it in the season finals, "quality of mercy", after visiting an alternative timetable, showed him why his fate should happen. Marie in a similar way accepts her fate in this episode and tells Pique "(he) all people need to understand it."

Completing Marie, locked in a stationary state of a foreign planet, mirror Pique's return to Talos IV. But he still has a few more good years before that happens. He's sad Marie is gone, but the episode ends with him by ordering the company to the next adventure. Pique knows how precious every moment when Captain Pique is and will make the most of them.

"Star Trek: Strange New Worlds" is moving to Paramount+ and has been restored for the fourth and fifth season.
