A horrific car accident has left West Ham without the services of Michail Antonio for what is expected to be the remainder of the season Premier League campaign. The Jamaican international crashed his car last week, and was rushed to hospital where he underwent surgery on his leg. He is he is expected to be in the hospital for several weeksand Lopetegui admitted that he considered it a "miracle" that the player survived the accident.

"The best news about Michail Antonio was that he was able to talk to us before the (Wolves) game - (because) he is looking at the car accident, it was one miracle (he was fine). Now he is strong, he is recovering. himself in the next months that be a man first and then an actor."

To be fair, it leaves West Ham with the upper hand at the top of the game, with their Premier League record winning streak having started 11 of 14 games before the injury.

Summer signing Niclas Füllkrug is still sidelined with an injury, while 32-year-old Danny Ings has only started one Premier League game this season, with Lopetegui preferring to play Jarrod Bowen as a striker against Wolverhampton Wanderers rather than relying on the former. The Liverpool striker leads the line.

Now, they are ready to take action in January to solve their future problem, be it or not Lopetegui is still at the helm.

West Ham want to sign a Premier League player

This comes as the former Premier League scout turned inwards Mick Brown has told the East London club to complete a loan move to sign Evan Ferguson in January.

The Republic of Ireland striker appeared with Brighton and received a lot of praise for his first game, and The EBL football expert calls him that "Very crazy" 18 months ago, adding that his appearance is like "Wayne Rooney and Erling Haaland rolled into one".

"He has a good reputation as a young player, but he is at a time when he has to prove himself", he told Football Insider.

"If he doesn't play regularly in the Brighton team, he needs to go somewhere where he can play first-team football and show what he can do. From what I understand, West Ham would be willing to give him that chance.

"Ferguson is talked about a lot and there is a lot of interest in him. But he fits the bill for West Ham with his style of play, and he's a big lad, not afraid to get inside. This is what Antonio wants in his absence.."
