Meanwhile, Soccer Talent Scout Jacek Kulig described him as a "top talent"but since the arrival of Fabian Hurzeler at the AMEX Stadium, Ferguson has not had the opportunity to show his worth. The 20-year-old has made just two Premier League appearances, conceding just one goal, and is expected to leave the club on loan in January in search of first-team football. And Brown has helped West Ham complete a deal to sign him.

"He has a good reputation as a young player, but he is at a time when he has to prove himself", he told Football Insider.

"Ferguson is talked about a lot and there is a lot of interest in him. But he fits the bill for West Ham with his style of play, and he's a big lad, not afraid to get inside. This is what Antonio wants in his absence.."

He added: "I hope he leaves Brighton and I hope West Ham move." Could Ferguson and West Ham be more closely linked in the second half of the season?
