This post contains spoilers for "Stargat Atlantis".
Atlantis' expedition demanded a qualified, versatile team at Stargat Atlantis, Because these people would be responsible for the shoulder of an unpredictable space adventure with unlimited possibilities. The Stargate Command made the right decision to appoint Major Johnon Shepard (OEO Flanigan) for an expedition leader, because his pragmatic nature (mixed with the right amount of rebellion) drew into a smart, highly qualified group that would continue to change the trajectory of franchise.
Tayla Emagan (Rachel Latrel) is a good example of a dedicated crew member - She chose Atlantis' expedition to leadership in her home, because her goal has always been to make the Galaxy safer place for everyone. Tayla brings a lot to the table because her DNA on Wright Allows allows to get into powerful abilities that have helped save her friends on more than one occasion during the five seasons of the show.
Lutrel's taile has been pushing to watch since the start of the show, but things are particularly intriguing for this character in Stargat Atlantis in Season 5. In the eighth episode of the season, titled "Queen", a series of previously established events, to create a unique complex (and extremely risky) situation. For beginners, Tayla realizes that her DNA gives Wraith an advantage that her team's members have no, allowing Her to infiltrate the enemy's renders when looking for the opportunity. After the death of the Queen Wright, the opportunity to represent Tayla as a queen of the basket, which is necessary to state the chances of the mission in their favor. Returns, whom Shepard calls Todd (Christopher Hejerdal) helps Tayla change his appearance with plastic surgery (!), What Allows allows to be convincingly as a queen of the basket.
The aspect behind the scenes of this episode apparently included tone makeup and prosthetics, which was a understandable challenge for Lutrael because of the purity time that would last the whole process. Talking to GateLutrel explained why the "Queen" shooting is difficult, although the episode was very fun from the point of view of storytelling.
Rachel Lutrell spent 20 hours in makeup for a basket queen for this episode of Stargat Atlantis
Wraith in Stargate Atlantis usually sports pale humanoid appearance With different facial patterns that help identify the individual rank in the middle of their social structure based on a basket. To help Tayla succeed in her mission, Todd significantly changes her appearance to look like a high -ranking queen, which is complemented by label lessons that help her avoid suspicion. The logistics for recording this episode were expected to be awkward, with Lutrel explaining why it was "very difficult" to sit in makeup and prosthetics for long hours:
"Oh, my goodness. It was a very, very heavy episode. I think my longest day was 20 hours said (...), yes, from the time I got there and I got the prosthetic and made all the shootings until I took out the last part of makeup and managed to go home, I think it was about 20 hours (...
Asked about Tayla's bow in the series, Lutrael said she wished the show to explore the background of the character a little more, as most of our understanding of Tayla stem from its utility as a member of the Atlantis crew. While we learn about her roots as the leader of the Athosians (and the blame she often has for the choice of Atlantis mission), it would be interesting to keep in her past a little. Lutrael feels the same, because the family story oriented towards Tayla's family story was one of the reasons why it felt the character in the first place:
"One of the things I wanted for Tayla at the beginning, and even to go so far from the initial audition, it was (...) so much of it had to do with her history and her relationships with her people and her relationships with her family and how she happened to be their central leader. And she had so much power." I wanted it. " And I loved it. And I loved it.
However, Tayla is a beloved character "Stargate Atlantis", and the sudden cancellation of the show after five seasons may end all plans to explore her bow further. There are still many great moments of Tayla worth taste, and the "queen" is definitely one of them.
