Ryan Murphy and Netflix team together to tell the story of one of the most notorious serial killers of all time, Ed Gin. That name may sound familiar to real crime. He's not as big in name as, say, Ted Bundy, but "Monster: The Edin Gein Story" is trying to tell the story of this very influential individual. Gin's real life crimes have continued to inspire some of the biggest works of horror cinema so far, which is something in which the show is relying.

Unrecognizable Charlie Hanam ("sons of anarchy") plays Ed Ginn In this latest issue of the Monster Anthology series. The new trailer, which you can check above, offers an overview of it in action. Many of the pictures may look familiar, including the skin used as a lampshade and a nasty way that Gane calls on his mother. This is because Gane was used as an inspiration for the characters in Tobe Houper "The Texas Chain Massacre" and "Psycho" of Alfred Hitchcock, as well as the "silence of the lambs" of Athonian Deme.

For those who are not familiar with Ed Gin, he confessed to two murders that occurred in the 1950sRecognizing responsibility for the killing of the bar owner Mary Hogan in 1954 and the owner of the hardware store, Bernice Warden in 1957. He was suspected of several others, but was convicted of Hogan's murder. However, it is just the tip of the iceberg. Gein was also a grave robber who used parts of the human body to secure his home, including the use of skulls as bowls. Co-creator of series Jan Brennan, talking to TudumExplain why telling the story of Gin is a challenge:

"Ed Gane is pretty vague. It's this man who lived in a farm and didn't know many people and you see his descent in deep, deep madness, and then in the end killing people. It seemed as a big demand for a play that is quite popular. Is it too much to ask the global audience?"

It was in realizing that Horror Classics like "Texas Pila Massacre" were inspired by Gane It gave Brennan and Murphy tell the story. "There is something about this story that really echoed for centuries," Brennan said. "That's when clicked."

In the trailer, we even hear Hitchcock's voice provided by actor Tom Nollander. "What shocked you the most for him?" Hitchcock wonders how a police search engine at the home of Guin. "What was his childhood?" The director is created further. Anyone who has seen "Psycho" is not at all difficult to see how Gane influenced that family classic, based on footage only in this trailer. There is a direct line from Ed Gin to Norman Bates.

It is also not difficult to see the influences between Gin and Buffalo was in "Silence of the Lambs". Buffalo was also inspired by killer Gary HaynikBesides Gane. And these are just the most popular examples. Gin's crimes continued to influence the horror genre, directly and indirectly, in countless ways. As Murphy explained to Tudum, he sees Gyin as a wildly influential figure over these few seminal feature films:

"(Gane) is probably one of the most influential people of the 20th century, and yet people don't know much about him. He influenced some of the biggest serial killers of the 20th century - which is something else I think people do not know about him - Ted Bundy, and still."
