This post contains spoilers for "Stargat Atlantis".
"Stargate Atlantis" could be a lot of fun during its five -season rockBut even the best plays have episodes that do not add anything significant to their oreub. Atlantis, however, has perfected the formula that made the most episodes of filling effective, where many care and consideration entered the interpersonal dynamics between the Atlantis crew. However, soaking in quality is expected from time to time in the form of one -off episodes that fail to hit the mark or fail to have fun, despite the promising galactic hires. The "Trio" of Season 4 comes to mind, as this record revolves around the situation that feels too much minor for our super smart team of space researchers, who inevitably act in character to solve a ridiculous crisis.
Here's what is happening. The planet prone to earthquake M5V-801 becomes a focal point for Atlantis crew, Especially for D -Ennenifer Keller (Skate Stait) and Dr. Rodney McKay (David Hewlett)that compile a comprehensive report. Good doctors discuss the serious condition of the planet with others and they decide to plan a mission to evacuate settlements in a safer part of the planet, but the road forward seems to be filled with obstacles. Samantha Carter (Amanda's tapping) has decided that she, along with McKay and Keller, will go to the M5V-801, but the trio falls through an unstable part of the country after reaching the planet. They are trapped in a room without easy exit, and things escalate when the shakes shake everything and threaten to overthrow them in the near smell.
The problem with this premise is that the trio could easily stabilize the room by removing heavy boxes scattered around, allowing them to stabilize even during the shocks. To see three intelligent characters ignore such an obvious solution, strengthens the sequence of any uncertainty, and the fact that it is followed by noticeable mistakes in continuity does not help things. What's worse, Hewlett said Gate In an interview in 2008 that this sequence was a shooting nightmare because it wasn't fun to work in a claustrophobic set that was shaking from time to time. Here's what the actor had to say.
Hewlett had a rough time to deal with the winning, unpleasant set of Atlantis Starghat
Hylent started his interview by sharing a positive experience for the "last man", the brilliant finale of Season 4, allowing McKay to accept a way of thinking differently than everything that was explored in the show. Unfortunately, these feelings of gratitude were not conveyed by the "trio":
"" Trio "was an absolute hell. I'm not afraid to say that. You were in a box that moved. With cranes and dust. And we were weird miserable to that level of euphoria. As we got to the point where it was until it was ... I had to accept it, and there were worse things in the world.
According to Hurette, both stable and eavesdropping were a great company, but the logistics of the stage were so complicated that it reduced the experience of worse. Hewele compared the experience with "Cube", Fluk by Vincenzo Natalie in 1997 starring the actorWhile listing as sets were similar to claustrophobic setting (yet somehow, quite different):
"It was so difficult and so technical - because there were so many things. You know, it's funny, because I made this movie," Cube ", which was based in these small boxes. And, at once, here we are in a set that is basically the same thing. Only they had a bigger box, and it actually moved.
While Trio has its disadvantages, this episode Allows allows Keller to prove its crew value, as its Help actions help shine and develop beyond the secondary character that exists only for the practicality of conspiracy. It is not a good episode "Atlantis" from any part of the imagination (especially if we measure it against the established standard), but it is the one that triggered a key relationship in the series.
