Nikki Glaser came under fire for a joke she made about the embattled rapper Sean "Diddy" Combs during her opening monologue for the 82nd Golden Globe Awards on Sunday.

Viewers branded the joke "pathetic and disgusting", with some also claiming it was insensitive to victims of sexual assault.

Sean "Diddy" Combs remains in custody ahead of a May trial where he will face charges of racketeering, sex trafficking and transportation for prostitution.

When Glaser made a joke about Diddy during the opening ceremony of this year's Golden Globes, she probably didn't expect it to upset fans on social media.

The stand-up comedian first joked about Diddy while praising Zendaya and her movie "The Challengers."

She said, "Zendaya's here — Zendaya, you were amazing in 'Dune.' Oh my god, I woke up to everything, and 'Challengers,' that was so good from Diddy's credit card.

Amid crowd reaction, Glaser doubled down on the joke by referencing Diddy's infamous "freaks."

She continued: "I'm sorry, I'm upset too. The afterparty won't be as good this year. But we have to move on - 'Stanley Tucci freak off' doesn't have the same sound. - no baby oil this year, just a lot of olive oil."

Concerned viewers immediately took to social media to express their outrage at Glaser for making a joke about a sex scandal involving the rapper.

One user said: "The problem with these Diddy jokes is that people swear up and down they're making fun of abusers, but in reality it's making fun of the abuse the victims went through. He abused so many, including children. Nikki Glaser is already painfully unfunny, but this is pathetic and disgusting."

Another user commented: "Ok Nikki Glaser should be seriously banned from awards like this for such a horribly messed up joke. She is completely insensitive to the victims of SA who went through such horrible experiences with this vile man."

Another viewer wrote: "I didn't know who Nikki Glaser was until today, I want to never hear from her again, I hope this Diddy joke kills every attitude she has."

When Diddy was arrested in September and his indictment was unsealed, it was revealed that his infamous antics were central to the sex-crime charges brought against him.

According to Page Sixthe document also revealed that law enforcement officials seized over 1,000 bottles of baby oil and lubricant, which were used in the "Freak Offs."

To facilitate these events and handle other logistical needs, Diddy reportedly employed several individuals who were members of his company, Combs Enterprises.

The "Freak Offs" were also reportedly full of instances where the music mogul assaulted females by punching, kicking, dragging and throwing objects at them.

Meanwhile, Diddy said he "maintained control over his victims through, among other things, physical violence, promises of career opportunities, giving and threats to withhold financial support."

The rapper was also involved in "monitoring their whereabouts, dictating the victims' appearances, monitoring their medical records, controlling their housing and supplying them with controlled substances."

At this time, Diddy remains in custody ahead of his federal trial on May 5, 2025, but is expected to return to court on March 17.

If ultimately convicted of a sex crime, he could face up to life in prison if given the maximum sentence.

During the trial, more details about his crimes are expected to emerge from witnesses presented by prosecutors.

Meanwhile, the allegations will be addressed on the small screen in Peacock's upcoming documentary about the rapper, "Diddy: The Making of a Bad Boy."

Many of Diddy's inner circle have been interviewed for the project, which will also feature never-before-seen footage of the rapper.

The documentary is set to premiere on January 14 and will be the first project to address the allegations against Diddy in 2025.

Diddy's lawyers have since hit back at the upcoming Peacock documentary after its trailer dropped, interviewing several of his famous associates.

According to Daily Mailin a lengthy statement released Friday, Diddy's attorney said these "documentaries include unverified claims and provide platforms for baseless conspiracy theories without accountability or evidence."

They added: "Especially in the case of the Peacock documentary, the motivation and credibility of those interviewed must be questioned. Many claim to have knowledge but have no connection to the truth, while their wild, unfounded theories are cut and sensationalized to appear factual."
