"Caught stealing" is a good movie. Not a modern classic for which we should be hyperbolic; Just a good movie. At another time, it might have felt a little less special than it is currently. In 2025, we are still in this cycle where almost everything must be a franchise, or thrown into streaming where it will disappear into the abyss.

In this way, an adult film with a nice catch than a great director feels more appropriate than before. This kind of work was not rare, it was the norm. But now that is rarely and, as a result, the latest feels specifically on Darren Aronofsky, even if it is not Some kind of permanent masterpiece as "Requiem for Dream" or any of the director's other films. Instead, he teamed up with Austin Butler and writer Charlie Huston to deliver a damn good time for movies, ordinary and simple.

The film focuses on Hank Thompson (Butler), a former phenomenon in high school baseball, which can no longer play, now works as a bartender in Newouper, enjoying his new relationship with Yvonne (Zoe Kravitz). When his punk rock neighbor Rus (Matt Smith) asks him to take care of his cat for a few days, Hank inadvertently finds himself caught in the middle of several different groups of gangsters. Hank's simple life is then transferred to chaos while mixing it with criminals and trying to keep out of prison.

"Caught Stealing" is based on a book of the same name by Huston. He was clearly the right person to adjust his book on the screen, because the story did not waste time. The characters are easy for Loveub (or hatred), it is good and engaged in jump. It is also extremely clear.

That's not to say that there are no twists and turns on the road - this is a crime caper. Only the movie Sony was selling to us through the trailers is the movie that has been delivered. Would you like to see Austin Butler running through the newuork while trying to escape some bad things? Do you want to see great actors who get a chance to shine in roles in the immediate vicinity? That's what you get. We have become so accustomed to deceived or clever marketing that something that is clearly awkward. There are no tricks here. It's fun, incredibly stressful and at times a very sexy crime.

Those who are familiar with the work of Aronofsky have a certain expectation. Be it a lasting intensity of the "black swan" or the bold madness of "Mother!" Often there is seriousness of his films. He is not a very purifier of cinema -Poaks. Getting out of the Oscar winner "Keith", Aronofsky decided to do something very different and show us a side of him that we haven't seen before. This side of it is fun. That's vibrant. It's a lot of fun.
