Georgia quarterback Gunner Stockton Been waiting for this moment all my life.

Gunner was promoted to the role of starting quarterback for the University of Georgia after the quarterback Carson Beck Suffered an elbow injury during the SEC Championship Game against Texas on Dec. 7. Beck underwent season-ending surgery and has since declared for the 2025 NFL Draft.

Born in Tiger, Georgia, about 75 miles from the University of Georgia campus in Athens, Gunner became a huge Bulldogs fan. A son of two collegiate athletes — his father, Rob, played football at Georgia Southern and his mother, Sherry, played basketball at Erskine College — athletics is in his blood.

"The number one thing for Gunner is that he knows our community, and especially our family, his friends and those closest to him trust him," Rob told UGASSports In a story published Sunday, Dec. 29. “We always love him and want the best for him. Gunner originally committed to play quarterback at SEC rival South Carolina. However, he is announced his commitment in January 2021.

"After much discussion and prayer with my family, I have decided to decommit from the University of South Carolina," Gunner said in a statement at the time. “In August, I decided to commit to the university, the program and the staff. Gunner drives his grandfather's old truck around the Stockton campus
