The Star Wars prequels were full of silly moments, from the on-screen "I hate sand" speech to every second Jar-Jar Binks was on-screen. Overall, though, most fans would absolutely agree. Very stupid The moment Padme Amidala was about to die of a broken heart. Even in a galaxy far, far away, it's hard to accept that the former queen and mother of the galaxy's greatest hero will die a tragic death. However, some fans believe that Anakin Skywalker accidentally drained her life force to survive.
The theory of Padme's death
Where credit is due: Revenge of the Sith It had some clever editing moments, including scenes where Padmé gives birth to Luke and Leia and the robot reincarnation of Anakin Skywalker. Darth Vader. Part of what made Rebirth so illusive was that we saw Anakin walking around wearing fire. pass away By former mentor Obi-Wan Kenobi. It didn't seem like even a powerful Force user could survive, and according to this theory of Padme's death, Anakin's only way to survive was to absorb all his life from his wife (husbands, right?).
An interesting side effect of the idea of Padme's death is redeeming another stupid premature moment. Darth Vader's cartoonishly stupid "NOOOOOOO" shouting When he was told that his wife had died. Palpatine had told his new student, "You killed her in your rage," and Vader's rant was shocking because he seemed so easily fooled by the galaxy's most blatant liar. According to this theory, however, Palpatine was actually telling the truth, and Vader was blinded by rage, unconsciously drained of Padme's life force in a way that could not be detected by medical scanners.
More than one Padme death theory
While this theory of Padme's death is compelling, there are equally interesting variations and other theories. For example, the primary theory is that Anakin did all this without knowing, that is why he was so surprised and sad when he found out that his wife died. Others think he intentionally (probably since that Mustafa power choke or earlier) drains her life force and only realizes he's gone too far and killed her (talk about post-bot clarity!).
Of course, the most notable variation on this theory of Padme's death is Palpatine, who absorbed her life force more than Anakin. This fits with the long-standing theory that it was Palpatine who sent Anakin visions of his wife dying, essentially planting the idea of her dying and offering her the false carrot of eternal life. After all this manipulation, the newly crowned emperor can make sure that his strong right hand has nothing to live for but his empire by deliberately sucking the life out of her body.
Obviously, your mileage may vary on whether this concept of Padme's death truly redeems the Prequel Trilogy. Even if George Lucas comes out tomorrow and gives us his best. Han Solo (“It's true… all of it”), we're still left with awkward dialogue and embarrassing plot twists. It's also a shame that fans have spent almost two decades trying to right all the wrongs in a movie with more holes than Millennium Falcon. Then again, how much given Disney Currently running this franchise into the ground, fans and their theories can be ours. Only Here's hoping for good Star Wars stories in the future.
