The bright side of the lawyer's absence over the past six seasons is that we could say that the eye is healed and that he may move from his need for revenge. What is also noticeable for the lawyer is a clear change in the middle series in the way the writers were approaching "always sunny". At first, they seemed to prefer it to the role of a voice level, but at some point, the creatives of the show must realize that it would be funny to punish him for his bad for the gang instead. It's a surprising change in approach - the one that points out how the gang has grown even more humiliated and dangerous over the years - but that is not the one I hope writers continue to do.
