This movie has such a wonderful message to stay true to yourself and be your own personality. I want to see it because it really feels like I saw you in it, and what you mean about these characters and what they mean. What was this process for you, entering this movie? Did you get rid of it in terms of being a boss so you can put what you want there? Or was it like, "I still feel responsibility for the character, the inheritance," that kind of work?
Definitely, I still felt the responsibility of the characters. And the truth is, is that now I made a lot of movies, really from "Guardians (of Galaxy) 1", where I managed to do what I wanted. I have never had a problem with doing what I wanted in any of the "guardians" films or "suicidal composition" or whatever. So, it really wasn't a problem.
I think it was a question to really be faithful to Superman, to find an aspect of Superman that we may not have seen before, so focusing on him as a person a little more. At the end of the day, this is a film about all pyrotechnics and action and all that, but in the center of it, it is really a story of Superman to discover something about himself, not knowing how to deal with it, and then find a way through that emotional trouble. And that's something I don't feel like it used to be in movie, or TV -Show. I think that was what was exciting to me.
Your movies are known for having great ensembles and team films, so to speak. Although this is not a technical team film, watching the film, I felt this was still an ensemble because Superman was on every team. What did it look like to give everyone the moment to shine in this film, while still keeping Superman, Lois and Lex in focus?
Well, that's just because I love those characters. I love Guy Gardner. I love Mr -Din scary. I love Lois Lane. I love a cat grant. I love these comic book characters, and so I gave each moment a little, (as with) Metamorpho, and looking at them in a different way maybe than they were normally (seen). Guy a lot Truth on the comics. Mr Straini is pretty true for comics. Metamorpho is a little more haunted. Indeed, it was fun because I'm just a fan of those characters in comics.
