No character of comics as prominent as Spiderman had as much of the actors to pass the role in the 21st century. Well, well, was Batman technically ... five? But mostly in Comes, and, you know what? That's besides the point. Three stars, each with more movies under the belts in just a few decades, is a pretty rare thing. Of course, with so many repeated casting, there were many actors who almost played on the Wallid-Lucer, but no.
For example, Heath Ledger was considered early to take over the image of Sam Raimi. Then, years later, actors like Timote, Shalamet and Asa Butterfield were ready for the part of Marvel's Chinese universe before Tom Holland, eventually used it. And when the "incredible Spiderman" was early development, and Oshosh Hucherson and Alden Ehreneich were running before Andrew Garfield to take the role of Peter Parker.
Ehrenreich, in particular, apparently approached securing the role, with The deadline In 2010, reporting that he was tested with Spiderman, along with competitors such as Logan Lerman and the late Anton Jelchin. Had he followed the part, his career trajectory might have looked quite different, as it seems suspicious that Disney and Lucasfilm would throw former Spiderman as a young Jan Solo. Since then, as of 2025, Ehrenreich finally entered the Marvel live fieldPlaying the enigmatic oeo McGilikudi (no spoilers here) in the Disney+ MCC series "IRONEAL HEART".
Alden Ehrenreich got bad rap after solo: Starwell war story
"Amazing Spider-Man" films have never achieved the same critical success as Raimi's "Spiderman" trilogy Or MCU Spidey's later films, but they led to good things for Andrew Garfield, and it is easy to imagine Alden Ehreneich get the same benefit if he lowered his part. Instead, nearly a decade later, he rejoiced like the young Jan Solo in "Solo: Star War Story".
That film became something infamous about the loud minority of reaction against him and a silent performance of the box office, many of which was unjustly attached to Ehreneich being a bad choice for leadership. In reality (and I'm talking about as a super-Fan "Starwalks War" here), Ehreneich is probably the best part of "solo", turning into a tinted performance that brings elements of Harrison Ford's iconic twist while adding its own pieces.
Fortunately, Ehrenreich built an impressive career on the eve of Solo, with recent parts of films such as Oppenheimer and Cocaine Bear, besides his MCC debut. It has also been proven that it is quite versatile and it is fun to consider what his download of Spider-Man looked like. Although we will never know, it's not too late to give a "solo" second chance if you were one of those people who wrote it back in 2018.
