For a certain generation of DC fans, there is nothing like "Batman beyond". The series is set up in the future version of Gotham City, where young Terry McGinnis took over the Batman coat by donating a high-tech suit and mentored by Bruce Wayne's aging. Taking into the same time schedule as "Batman: the animated series", " The show was relatively short -lived, lasting only three seasons between 1999 and 2001. However, it is no less beloved, especially now, because nostalgia catches it. Unfortunately, those who hold a rebirth would do well to reduce expectations.

Will Friedl, who expressed Terry McGinis in the original series, recently spoke on the animation! Convention Columbos 2025 (after Comicbook.com). During the event, he was asked about a possible rebirth "Batman over". Even just a few years ago, Friedl said he wanted to see that such a thing happened. Unfortunately, some key things have changed - namely, the passing of Kevin Conroy, Batman's voice. Here's what Friedle had to say about it:

"If you asked me that question three years ago, the answer will be," Oh, God, yes. Get me before the microphone right now. " Now that Kevin is gone, I don't know if I could do it again.

Conroy, who became Batman's final voice, died in 2022. The actor borrowed his voice to the character many, many times over the years, starting with "Batman: the animated series". For many fans, he remains "one real Batman", and many of the actors who have worked with him over the years feel the same. As such, it is difficult for Friedle to imagine him gathering where he left without a contro. It's hard to not respect that.

Batman off can make a comeback - but with a new team

If Conroy was still with us, who knows? What we know for sure is that DC Studios is in the middle of launching a new vision of the DC universe, starting seriously with the Jameseshes Gun Superman this summer. But the restart of the DCU also includes animated shows, live series and even video games. And while there are currently no plans for the Batman out project, such a thing feels, in a way, inevitable. It would only mean more to restart or monitor the concept in a new medium than revive the original series.

Warner Bros. has been interested in years to execute A. Film "Batman Over", with Clint Eastwood one like Bruce Wayne for an abandoned version years ago. But it's really just the tip of the iceberg. In recent years, the studio has played with several other versions of Terry McGinis and Bruce Wayne, who team up on the big screen.

Animated Film "Batman Over"Ă  La "Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse", was developing at one point. Was later abolished. The big one came in 2023 when Flash disappointed with the box office. If that film was a success, SB was looking to make a movie "Batman Over" starring Michael Keaton.

The bigger point is that Warner Bros. and DC seem to be very interested in using this concept as a springboard for something bigger. There were even rumors that a video game based on the animated Batman Over Series was developing in Rocksteidi, though it was never confirmed. In any case, it still feels like this is a property within the larger DC Comics Canon which has a lot of juice to drain. Just don't expect Friedle to be a pre-and-center, in the light of these recent comments.
