It should not be so surprising that action franchises built around an unstoppable hero have a difficult time to expand their Chinese worlds over that central figure. Lionsgate is the latest fight studio in that regard, with Johnon Vick himself proved to be the biggest problem with building that special cinema universe. Try as they can, the studio and his burgoning of the world on the screen cannot escape the shadow of Baba Yaga, which is confirmed by the disappointment that was a TV spin-off "Continental". With the latest movie spin-off, "Ballerina", fighting in the box office, seems to be the saga Johnon Wick may be dead in the water - At least until Keanu Reeves agreed to return for another round.
But the "Johnon Wick" saga is far from the first action franchise to meet this issue. Just look at Jason Bourne movies. As early as 2002, director Doug Liman and Starvala Matt Damon basically reinvested the action genre with "Bourne Identity". Adaptation of Robert Ludlum's novel in 1980 of the same name, the film served as a deconstruction of the action hero, while restoring that archetype. Damon, Asoneyson Bourne is a highly qualified killer without remembrance of who he is or how he has become such an unstoppable force. As he asks who he is and who should be, so is the film industry aspiring as the action hero and action film.
This, along with grounded, nasty tone and some of the most intense combat scenes ever filmed, have made "Bourne Identity" at the seminar entrance into the history of action films, and followed a needle of similar films, with even Batman and Jamesjeims Bond (2005). Burn's sequels were important for maintaining the quality of the saga, but after the third film, Universal decided to try to expand Bourne's Chinese universe with indecisive results. "The Bourne Legacy" in 2012 replaced Damon for Ereeremi Renner as Aaron Cross, and the audience was not everything that impressed. But even "Legacy" lights compared to "Treadstone", an action drama series set in the Born Universe, which lasted only one season.
Treadstone was Jason Born's short -term series without Jason Bourne
By the end of 2007 "The Bourne Ultimatum", Jason Bourne of Matt Damon revealed the truth of his origin as a highly trained agent from The Shadowy Operation Teadstone. This black CIA option was created for training elite assassin, and Born becomes its largest product. After "Legy Legacy", Universal tried to bring things back on the right track with 2016 "Asoneyson Bourne", which noticed the return of Damon's hero, but was so bad that he made some fans rethink their Loveube to the franchise. This was not a good sign. If the man himself returned, he wouldn't fix things, what was it? In the heads of directors, it was obviously the answer of the Bourne TV show.
"Treadstone" was that show. Action Drama Series debuted on the US Network on October 15, 2019 and took over the audience of researching the history of Tradston's operation, while recounting some modern stories nowadays based on black-and-based agents produced by the program. It starred in Ereeremi Irvine as Johnon Randolph Bentley, an early agent of Treadstone, who was shown at the beginning of the series as captured by Soviet agents in 1973. He then escaped before the series jumping forward in time to witness several treadstone sleeping agents who are "awake" to carry out their missions. These agents include Tara Coleman (played by actor Pete Tracy Inphor), Fedni Park (Jan Chio-OO) and Doug McKenna (Brian J. Smith).
During the series, we go back and forth, as we follow the main team in an appropriate international odyssey that imitated the Globe adventures, taken by Jason Bourne himself. The show also referred to several film events and was declared stemming from "The World of Jason Bourne", but it was very much of its job. The character of Matt Damon does not appear in the series, which may have to do with why he has been canceled after only one season. In May 2020, the US network pulled the plugin, resulting in another unsuccessful attempt to expand Bourne's Chinese universe.
Treadstone was sentenced to condemnation from the beginning
After the US network canceled "Treadstone", The deadline It announced that the play was simply too "expensive until the eyeball was drawn". But there was also the question not to be so big. "Treadstone" is not included in /film Ranking the movies Jason BourneBut if we lowered it there just to include every project in that franchise, it would not be very high. The play has a 50% critic of critic Rotten tomatoesWhat is not the worst that the tomatometer has been fired so far, but some of the reviews have certainly not been maintained.
Rogerebert.com writer Brian Talerico advised the audience to "delete" Teadstone "on the US from (their) memory," calling it "gray porridge of the things you have seen in better spy shows and much better spy films". Tim Goodman of the Hollywood Reporter was also not impressed, writing that while "many action films are looking for audiences to stop disbelief", "Treadstone" asked them to "see the tops of their heads and remove Gooey Blob". However, some reviewers liked the show. Sydney Morning Herald, Brad Newsusome, called it "attractive" and praised the way he took over "the mythology of Robert Ludlum's trilogy, Bourne, in places that have never been."
Although "Asoneyson Burn" seems to have proven that Bourne itself is not the most important element of this cinema universe, "Treadstone" always had to fight to complain without the man himself. It's like Sony to fight to make hits from his Spider-Man Universe without Spider-Man. Regardless of how Jason Bourne performed, Matt Damon was always a key component of the initial success of the franchise, and if the Jason Bourne project did not work with him, it would certainly not work without him.
