Harry Maguire hopes to extend his stay at Manchester United after "positive" talks with the club.
Maguire's current contract expires at the end of the season, although United retain the option of a one-year extension, keeping him at the club until 2026.
The England international was close to joining West Ham in 2023 but a move fell through.
Since then, Maguire has found himself in the defensive hierarchy following the summer arrivals of Matthijs de Ligt and Lenny Yorro.
But the 31-year-old is optimistic about his future at Old Trafford after a superb performance in United's 2-1 derby win over Manchester City on Sunday.
"I wasn't really thinking about (my long-term future)," Maguire said.
“They still have an option in hand this year. But, yes, all the signs are positive right now, and the conversation I'm having is really positive.

When asked if long-term contract talks were underway, Maguire simply replied, "Yes."
The centre-back was a surprise starter in Ruben Amorim's line-up at the Etihad.
Maguire produced a solid defensive display as United scored two late goals to seal a stunning victory.
"We've had a difficult start to the season and it hasn't been very encouraging for our fans, so that's for them," Maguire added.
“I thought it was a 50-50 game to be honest. It could have gone either way. It's an improvement, but we still have a long way to go.
The victory was also a big one for Amory, who has had mixed results since replacing Erik ten Haag as United manager.
"I think you can see we have a good structure, a good style of play and the way he wants us to work," Maguire added.
“He's tactically very good. It's proven to be a winner.
“And, look, we're still very new. I think it's been a month or so now, and we're really looking forward to where we can go and where we can do this club. I am sure he will take it positively.
