M3GAN 2.0 is a secret remake of anime classic

This article contains spoilers for "M3GAN 2.0".

Since "2001" since 1968 in 1968, the concept of artificial intelligence that has gained sensitivity and immediately become a murderous (or at least dangerous) penalties for us has been a common trophy in science fiction and horror stories. 2022 "M3GAN" It seemed to be another example of the trophy in the first blush. After all, its basic premise refers to a toy doll, which is equipped with the latest AI of Technology Guru Gema (Allison Williams), just to gain sensitivity and try to perform their main directive for the orphanage. As described by Gemma's guy, Christian (Aristotle Atari) in This month sequel, "M3GAN 2.0", M3GAN is an example of a "paper clip" problem when it comes to AI. Basically, if you tell AI to focus entirely on making paper clips, then it will eventually see every other element as less important than its task and inadvertently harm or worse to achieve its goal.

However, "M3GAN", "M3GAN 2.0", and the characters in them have much more that run beneath the surface than they may initially seem. There is no more than the M3Gan, which is not just a robot that succes at the "paper clip" theory, but also her, who is trying to fulfill her directives as she struggles with the huge amounts of knowledge and power of her fingers. M3Gan 2.0 enters this deeper, allowing M3Gan to grow and develop outside of being an ordinary "killer doll" antagonist. However, while M3Gan is on its own journey, there is another character in the sequel that is similar but much abusive (and more intensive): Android known as "Amana Saco"), whose story, while secondary to M3Gan and her family unit, is going to parallel to Classic, 1995. It is a choice that not only deepens the wildly wildly varied palette of "M3Gan 2.0", but it can also indicate where the third film "M3GAN" can go.

"Spirit in Shell" is a journey from assassination to transcendence

The manga of Massamam Shenou "The Spirit in the Shell" is one of the most influential series of this kind, and it is no surprise that the initial adaptation of the anime film, written by Casunori, and directed by Mamor Oshii, has become classic in itself. The story refers to the future in which technology has become so advanced that human beings can choose to increase their natural bodies with cyber parts or completely replace them, which is why most people are called "ghosts" (as in their consciousness) in the "shell" (their physical form).

Major Motoko Kusanagi (ATSUKO TANKA in the Japanese version, Mimi Woods in English oak) is part of Japan's secret government forces, acting as a public security team leader Part 9. is mortal, not immortal electronic. In the film final, the Motocco and the Master doll agree to merge, creating a new union being in the place of both.

There are much more in the series "Spirit in Shell" after the starting manga and the first filmBut the basic principles of the film are present throughout the period. Even Too much abused remake of live action for 2017 The ethical debate continues in the original about the existence of a soul and whether that consciousness can exceed the origin and become something completely new (and probably more evolved).

'M3GAN 2.0' solves the themes of the "Shell Spirit" in a clever way

In "M3Gan 2.0", writer Gererrard Johnonton plays around with the themes and plot of "Shell Spirit" when she tells Amelia's story and undermines them in some fun ways. Initially, Amelia seems to be going through a journey that is a mixture of Motocco and M3Gan, becoming sensitive and choosing to use its government assassination skills to avenge everyone involved in creating it. However, this narrative is revealed to be blond: It turns out that Amelia is not sensitive, but is a coward of Christian and his secret anti-ai Kabal, committing these killings in the name of Washington's frightening in putting tighter AI regulations.

In a double twist, Amelia is accidentally given sensitivity after Caddi chooses to restart and restore its code (which is actually the M3Gan source) in its factory setting. The newly sensitive Amelia, after not being a puppet master, but a slave to one, tries to release the first sensitive AI, maintained alive in the vault of the 1980s. After the merger, Amelia briefly becomes a god-man before M3Gan sacrifices itself and detonating EMP, stopping this new being of escape.

"Spirit in Shell" is not the only story that "M3GAN 2.0" parallel; There are elements of "Terminator 2". "Alita fights with an angel," and a few others in it. However, it is a comparison that can indicate where "M3Gan" can be interested if another sequel appears. Can AI in the "M3Gan" universe develop in such grandiose proportions, and if so, what is a little living doll? We will only have to wait and see if "M3GAN 3.0" sees how M3Gan and/or become God in the future.
