Get ready to step back in time in Season 3 The Way Home Premiering in the New Year on Hallmark Channel.

The network announced in March 2024 that the magical and mystical series would return for a third season — and this time around another decade would be explored. In season 1, fans meet Kat (Chailer Lt) and his daughter, Alice (Sadie Laflamme-Snow), when they move in with Kate's mother, Dale Landry (Andy McDowell), after Kat's divorce.

Viewers quickly learned that the Landry women had a checkered history with the town after Kat's younger brother, Jacob, went missing as a child. While diving deeper into their family past, Alice accidentally begins time traveling — using a magical pond on their property — and finds herself befriending a younger version of Cat from 1999.

Season 2 added another time period when Cat traveled back to 1814. There he discovers that his brother (portrayed by an adult version of Jacob Spencer McPherson) was alive and living in that era.

When it comes to season 3, Hallmark teased that the Landry women will be thrown into the world of 1974, when Dale is married to her now-deceased husband, Colton (Jefferson Brown)

Who is returning for season 3?

MacDowell, Leigh and Laflamme-Snow all Landry is returning as a woman. McPherson will also return as Kat's long-lost brother Jacob, and Brown will make a flashback cameo as the late Colton Landry. Evan Williams Elliot is reprising his role as Augustine, Cat's love interest.

How did season 2 end?

After a complicated relationship with 1814 where Cat meets her brother as an adult and helps save him from the Red Coats, she tries to convince him to jump into the pond and return to the modern day. During the Season 2 finale, which aired in March 2024, broke up with Kat. Her Revolutionary War love interest Thomas Quayle (Chris Holden-Reid) and gave her a second chance at romance with her childhood best friend Elliot.

If that wasn't enough drama, Jacob followed Kat to the present day, which came as a surprise to his sister. When the episode ended, the siblings prepared to visit their mother and explained that they had traveled through time with the help of their family pond.

Another cliffhanger revealed that Colton was watching the Landry house in the present day. That means he too has been time traveling since he died.

What can fans expect from the season 3 premiere?

Hallmark announced it in November Season 3 will pick up With Kat and Jacob "ready to walk to Landry's house near an unsuspecting Dale."

According to the press release, “Audiences will be introduced to a new era in which Alice will visit. During his time there, he meets compelling characters whose stories add context to Landris' history and answer some questions … but open new ones."

Cat, meanwhile, "tries to close the door in the 1800s after making a startling discovery." In the present day, she and Elliot "navigate a new chapter in their relationship, as she finds herself confronted with her own complicated past".

Will Elliot and Kat be together in season 3?

"Season 3 shows that there needs to be some growth for both Kat and Elliot," Williams said TVline In December 2024. “And I'm glad the writers aren't making it easy either. As such, it's not a binary thing, and because of that, it's more rewarding if they can find their way together."

What Happens in 'The Way Home' Season 3 Trailer?

Hallmark published it First trailer in November 2024reveals that both Alice and Cat will travel back to 1974. According to the teaser, "the mystery deepens" as the ladies watch Dale and Colton's love story unfold over the summer they met.

in Second trailerReleased in December, Alice learns "someone other than us is traveling through time," but she doesn't reveal their identity. At one point, Cat realizes that Alice has "sucked somewhere in time" before appearing at a summer event where her grandmother and grandfather are hanging out.

As Alice learns more about her grandparents, Dale asks Kat in the present to "please stop running and pick us."

Meanwhile, according to the second trailer, Kat seems to be totally dating Elliot. "Talking about endings and new beginnings..." Elliot says while dancing with Kat.

Finally, the video confirms that Jacob is back home in the present day, but doesn't show if he sees his mother or if he stays longer.

The new season was originally slated to air exclusively on Hallmark's streaming service, Hallmark+, but that has since changed.

In December, the network announced that "due to overwhelming demand," The Way Home Airs Fridays at 9 pm ET on the Hallmark Channel. New episodes will be available on Hallmark+ the next day.
