The latest live TV show with Marvel's action is almost on us with Ironheart set to debut on Disney+ later this month. The show was first released back in December 2020 along with "She-Hulk", "The Secret Invasion", "Armor War" and "I am Grout". Most of them came true except for "War of Armor" that allegedly becomes a movie. But now, after years of waiting, Riri Williams is finally getting a solo project in Marvel's film universe - and at least one of the show's producers made a pretty bold comparison.
Executive producer Sev Ohanian recently spoke with SFX magazine (through Gamesradar) for "Ironheart" before its debut. We've been waiting for this since Dominique Thorn made his debut as a character in "Black Panther: Wakanda forever" in 2022. Speaking of the character, Ohanian said that "Riri is brilliant, yet lack and finds himself going down the path I am not sure we have seen in MCU." He also compared his journey with some of the greatest characters of some of the biggest shows in television history:
"It is a kind of breaks in the show and we go to some unpleasant places for audiences that I think will be really fun to explore, almost in Walter White's vein by Breaking Bad or Tony Soprano."
So, Ohanian made the comparison that, at least from the point of view of the trip with wide characters, Riri Williams and "Ironelezar" will mirror what happened to Walter White at "Breaking Bad" and Tony Soprano on "sorrows". These are, to put it mildly, some huge comparisons to make.
Comparing Ironheart with Breaking Bad Sets Exciting Expectations
It's not like Ohanian to say that "Ironeles' Heart" is just as great as "Breaking Bad", but making that comparison in any way is an exalted expectation. "Breaking Bad", despite being rejected by every network, except AMCis widely welcomed as one of the biggest shows in TV history, as well as "Sopranos". This show could be absolutely great, and yet that mark. More than that, it seems difficult to believe that Riri Williams will really devote himself to allow darkness to overtake him as Walter White did.
The Trailer for "IRONEEL HEART" certainly hinted at Riri Williams walking the tricky wayBut it also seems to be conflicting in a way that nicely raises his hero nail polish. SeeEe See how it all is playing, but the producers of the show are clearly not afraid of high -ending expectations. The official synopsis for the play is as follows:
Posted after the events of "Black Panther: Wakanda Forever", "Ironelesis" on Marvel Television "Ironelezeric Heart" turns the technology against Magic when Riri Williams (Dominique Thorn) - a young, ingenious inventor determined to make his brand in the world. Her unique taking on the construction of iron suits is brilliant, but in search of her ambitions, she finds herself wrapped in the mysterious but charming Parker Robins Aka "Hood" (Anthony Ramos).
Black Panther Director Ryan Koggler serves as an executive producer of the show along with Ohanian, Kevin Jegie, Louis D'Sposito, Brad Windberbaum, Zoe Nagelhut, Lina Hodge and Zinzi Kogller. Hodge also serves as the chief writer, with Sam Bailey and Angela Burns on the ship as directors.
The first three episodes of Disney's Ironheart premiere+ on June 24, 2025.
