Stanley Done's "Sharade" is for Reggie Lampert (Audrey Hepburn), a professional translator who is in the wake of her husband Charles' divorce. While on vacation in the French Alps, she meets the charming and beautiful Peter Oshoshua (Carrie Grant), an American colleague with whom she immediately has chemistry. They go into separate ways, but he will return to her life soon enough. Back home in Paris, Reggie reveals that her husband was killed, and he left behind a mysterious aircraft ticket and a few false passports. At his funeral, some gray dudes stabbed his corpse with a needle to make sure he was really dead. Charles, it seems, depends on something that Reggie never knew.

US diplomat (Walter Matau) explains to Reggie that her late husband was once a soldier in World War II and was assigned a delivery task, secretly delivering gold to the French underground. However, Charles stole the gold and hid it. After Charles' death, his shaded friends came to Reggie, assuming he had gold. They are threatening and scary. This is where Peter Oshoshua reappears to protect it. Peter, however, is not all that seems. Indeed, he revealed that his real name is not actually Peter. However, Reggie seems to trust, however, because ... well, he's Kerry Grant.
