In a recent interview with BBCJolie discussed the deeply personal experience on the set of her latest film, "Maria," where her oldest sons, Maddox, 23, and Pax, 21, worked as production assistants.
While playing opera singer Maria Callas, Jolie said the biographical, psychological drama brought to the surface emotions her children rarely witnessed.
"Of course they've seen me go through a lot of things, but they haven't seen me express a lot of pain that usually a parent hides from a child," she said.
The "Maleficent" star also revealed how Maddox and Pax offered comfort in those moments, often bringing her "cups of tea" or simply giving her an encouraging hug.

Reflecting on the experience, the actress said it allowed her to connect with her family on a deeper level and embrace a new kind of openness in her relationships.
"Maria"—which already sparked Oscar buzz after its trailer—premiered on Netflix on Dec. 11.

Jolie's latest revelation comes as she shared a candid confession about her struggles with loneliness in an interview with The sun in London.
During the conversation, the mother of six reflected on her connection to opera legend Callas, saying: "I have my own children that I love, but as an adult I am often alone, I identify with the loneliness and loneliness that she has."
The actress admitted that she's still learning how to navigate life on her own, adding, "Also, I haven't really figured out how to live life in a way where I'm alone, maybe a lot of artists think we're in an open space as a person."

This follows Jolie's landmark legal victory in her ongoing battle with ex-husband Pitt, as a judge ordered the actor to hand over documents and communications that could support allegations of abuse against Jolie and their six children.
The legal conflict stems from Pitt's lawsuit against Jolie in 2022 over her decision to sell her stake in their French estate, Château Miraval. Since then, the former couple have traded heated accusations in court, keeping the dispute at the forefront of their legal battles.

In August, the 49-year-old spoke with The Hollywood Reporter about the valuable experience her sons gained during the production of Maria.
"Mad and Pax were on this one. They were doing the AD (assistant director) job. They've done that a lot, and I think it's good for them," she explained. "Pax tends to take pictures and he gets brought in and (director) Pablo was wonderful and recognized that he was good at it."
Jolie also revealed why she decided to return to acting, explaining that her children's increasing independence gave her more flexibility.
"They're a little older, they're becoming more independent. They need me less, so I can go for different periods," Jolie said. "And they're old enough to join me at work. A new season in our lives. I'm very excited that they're coming into their own more and more each day."

Jolie was recently spotted on the Paris set of her upcoming film Stitches. She was photographed there filming scenes for a fashion drama in a wig shop and later in a hospital courtyard.
According to Daily MailIn 2008, she was accompanied by her eldest son Maddox, who joined the production team as the third assistant director.
Maddox isn't the only Jolie-Pitt sister present on set, as Zahara, 19, was also seen on set, though her specific role remains unclear.
The actress shares a special tattoo with her children
In an interview with CR Fashion BookJolie, who has a large collection of tattoos, revealed that one of her six children shares the same tattoos as her.
When interviewer Carine Roitfeld asked about her latest tattoo, Jolie explained, "I got 'Stay Gold' with my daughter Viv during our time on 'The Outsiders.' It means a lot to us separately and together."
The "Maleficent" actress also shared that some of her other children have the same tattoos.
"There is also a bird that I share with one of my children that is personal to us," she noted. In June, Jolie first revealed the bird tattoo at the Tony Awards in New York.
