Recalling the genesis of what it turns out is the short -lived slap series Bob Dylan, Larry Charles explained how he met the rocker in a smoke -filled room at the back of his own Santa Monica salad. This seemingly convinced Dylan that Charles (Who talked to /film in 2023 about his project "Dix: Music") was the man who pasted his series of comedy, and the couple worked together to produce "very detailed treatment for this slap comedy, filled with surrealism and all kinds of things from his songs." This was partly based on the assortment of paper waste with phrases written on them, which Dylan created for several years. "Takee we took paper waste," Charles recalls, "Put them together, try to make them make sense, try to find the points of the story in it."

As a result of treatment, he received a duo meeting with HBO, which Charles recalls attending pajamas (he claims he probably had a nervous breakdown), while Dylan arrived in a "black cowboy hat, black floor length, (s) black boots". As if it were not a bad start, then President of FBOs Chris Albrecht began by showing Dylan his tickets to the original Woodstock, to which Dylan responded, saying, "I didn't play Woodstock." According to Charles, the musician then continued to look for the office window for the duration of the meeting.

Stunningly, Albrecht agreed to buy its show only for Dylan to undermine all the work almost immediately.
