Merriam-Webster Dictionary Word of the Year 2024 is "polarization," which is defined as "splitting into two distinct opposites." (This word beats "brain rot," but one wonders if the dictionary staff thinks so too.)
In fact, it has been the word of the year at least since 2016, when President-elect Trump first won and the left went crazy.
The dictionary world’s lefty staff couldn’t bear to be defeated by Trump and began playing word games almost immediately after his victory. Even NPR pointed out In 2017, “Merriam-Webster has been trolling Trump on Twitter for months.”
The company’s wordplay is part of a larger left-wing strategy of either coining new words or redefining existing terms to make them fit the liberal narrative. Over the past few years, we’ve seen repeated examples—“birthers,” “Latinas,” and most recently, “women.”
CNN host wonders if Democrats should ditch 'Latino' frame
Scripps National Spelling Bee, D-Awkward, A third grade word list has been released for its 100th anniversary competition. "womyn" is included as an acceptable alternative spelling of the real word "women". Of course, according to a Scripps spokesperson, "All words used in Scripps National Spelling Bee programs are taken from our official dictionary, Webster's Unabridged Dictionary."
I'm shocked just thinking about it. (Adjective: suffering from sudden mental or emotional distress.) But this is really just propaganda. Even the Lefty Urban Dictionary describes the term "womyn" as "a term used by feminists who believe that the inclusion of the word 'man' in the word 'woman' makes women a subset of men." (Scripp Sri Lanka also approved "bazar" as a substitute for bazaar, which is strange).
Even more controversial than this claim is the attempt to eliminate motherhood from our language to appease transgender extremists. In July 2022, the NEA, an unhinged coalition of teachers who hate America, considered changing the language. they want Drop the word "mom" and replace it with "biological parent". "Father" should be changed to "non-biological parents". This is because real parents - both mothers and fathers - don't like what NEA is doing to their children.
That plan failed. Even the National Energy Administration must realize how crazy this is.
One month later, AP Sample Decision "When you want to be inclusive of people who have these experiences but don't identify as women, phrases like 'pregnant people' or 'people seeking abortions' are acceptable."
This phenomenon and various other bizarre phenomena are accepted by so-called science. Everything from "breastfeeding" rather than breastfeeding to urging staff to "avoid unnecessary gendered language" can be found on the NIH website. Employees should "replace men and women with all or all, and ladies and gentlemen with distinguished guests or fellow citizens." The NIH is trying to put those words in other people's mouths, with instructions on its website and a prominent link to the AP sample.
The liberal media defends or promotes this nonsense. This is still true. "Justification for using 'pregnant' and other gender-inclusive phrases," CNN wrote. The gender-inclusive phrase mentioned in the story is "penis owner." (You have to write your own jokes for this. I wrote a few and then deleted them because I like being employed.) The network ran this article in May 2024.
Three ways the liberal news media failed in the presidential election. and deserve
You’d think the left would be tired of this empty talk, but that’s not the case. Look at that ridiculous word Latino. Liberals coined the term because they hated that Spanish had masculine and feminine gender words, so they wanted a gender-neutral term to describe someone from Spain or Latin America. But despite years of efforts, the Pew Research Center reported in September that "4% of Latino adults said they use Latino to describe themselves, little changed from 3% in 2019."
Instead of giving up, lefties simply try a new fake term. In April, Axios wrote: "Latin is the new Latin." That's like saying Vice President Kamala Harris It's the new Michael Dukakis. That's not particularly praiseworthy on either side of the comparison.
"'Latinx,' a gender-neutral term that describes or refers to Latino ancestry, is becoming increasingly popular on college campuses, museums, researchers and the media," the article states.

None of the groups it mentions are actually Hispanic or Latino. Every one of them is just another elitist, lefty ivory tower. So who do they cite as experts? Monica Trasandes, "director of Spanish-language media and representation at GLAAD" - the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation.
Talk about not being able to read the room, the election or even the dictionary.
Ironically, the article itself was published on Axios Latino. Not Axios Latin or Latinx.

The Left celebrates the use of profanity, which reminds me of what wonderful words nerd Susie Dent might have used to describe it. She calls herself "the woman in the corner of the dictionary," and often posts obscure terms from centuries past. One of her words that August day was, “‘Podsnappian’ (from charles dickens): Narrow-minded, complacent, and convinced that everyone else should see things the way you do.
That sounds like the last word to me. It aptly describes the grammatical thugs on the left.
