The actress condemned Hollywood's 'fake' culture of female empowerment
In an interview with Vanity FairSweeney called out the "fake" culture of Hollywood's supposed commitment to "women empowering other women."
"It's very disheartening to see women tearing other women down," Sweeney told the publication. "Especially when women who are successful in other areas of their industry see younger talent working really hard — hoping to achieve whatever dreams they may have — and then try to ruin and discredit every bit of work they've done.
The actress and her team recently had to contend with a producer, Carol Baum, who questioned her looks and talent.
Although Sweeney has become stronger, experience has shown her that the rhetoric of women's empowerment is nothing more than a facade.

Sydney Sweeney says most women feel they have to fight each other
In the interview, the "Euphoria" star tried to explain why she has strong opinions about Hollywood, linking it to the way women are often raised to see each other as competition.
"I mean, there are so many studies and different opinions about the reasons behind it," Sweeney said.
She theorized that such behavior stems from a "generational problem - believing that only one woman can be at the top".
Sweeney explained, "There's one woman who can get a man. There's one woman who can be, I don't know, anything. So everybody else feels like they have to fight each other or take that one woman down instead of being like, let's all lift each other up."
Expressing her frustration, she added: "I'm still trying to figure it out. I'm just doing my best here. Why am I being attacked?"
