For the actor, being the main character of a long -term networking television show is, if nothing else, a fantastic profitable situation. These series tend to pay very well, which is God's gift for serious actors who would like to have the freedom to take roles in indie movies (or perhaps work in the theater) without having to quarrel for their finances. Those who are lucky enough to throw such a show can feel a huge sense of security - though they are always aware that as the series continues, they may not have to continue with their character.

Writing from a successful show can be a rough turnaround of the actor's events, especially if they are updated (such as Eric Millan when his character was Zack Adi was killed on "bones"). And it is a decision that producers and writers do not make it easily because they are well aware of how potentially the sudden departure can be destroyed. Obviously, it's a different thing if the actor wonders out of the show or they become so disturbing for production that they just have to go (Like Johnon Amos of "Good times"), but when it comes to keeping the show fresh and dramatically attractive, it usually handles care.

Take, for example, the death of Elias Koteas Detective, Alvin Olinski on the NBC's Chicago PD, Olinski was an important character in the show since the pilot of the series, but when the show's creatives wrote Olinski in a tight place during the 5th season. How was this behind the scenes?

In an interview for 2018 with a TVinShowerer Rick Aid has revealed that Olinski's murder is a creative choice that has "evolved organic". As the Fans' Fans of Chicago PD, Alesky died after being in jail, awaiting the trial of the murder of the boy who killed Jason Benge's son Hank Wojt. However, Kotea was so well -loved member of the cast that the show's writers tried to imagine scenarios where his character could be withdrawn.

"I think everything was on the table," Eid told Entertainment Weekly In a separate interview for 2018. "We have gone through virtually every iteration we could think about and we were all just returning to this idea as a truly powerful idea. That's in the end how it all happened." After the creatives of the series devoted themselves to this narrative direction, all they could hope is that Kotea will be right for this to be the absolute end of their Chicago PD time

According to Eid, it all went smoothly. As he said to the TVLin:

"From a business perspective, however, this was an extremely difficult decision. Elias is a terrible actor and a good person. He was also an important part of the show from the beginning. So, this part of the process was really challenging.

The cast, the crew and the fans of Chicago PD may have initially missed Kotea, but they clearly surpassed it. The series is currently finishing its 12th season and is expected to be renewed for season 13. As for Kotea, an extremely talented actor who has been given unforgettable performances in films such as "Exotic", "Adjustter" and David Cronenberg's "accident", returned to appear in small, unusual independent films. Olinski's death seems to have worked well for all involved.
