Technically, the Academy has not yet promised that an Oscar for a trick for a trick will be delivered during television broadcasting, although the benefits will help to strengthen viewership; Popular films like "Johnon Wick" or "Mission: Impossible" that otherwise would not earn any nominations, could use a nom for that category and potentially lure them in some viewers who may not have been otherwise interested. But assuming stunts and casting are both brought into the last broadcasting, that means there should be 25 trophies to be given to the Academy Awards in 2028.

I am afraid that the ABC will decide to throw out the short film categories to make space and treat those like scientific and technical rewards, which are not televisions and are often mentioned briefly in the main broadcast. But people, it would suck. I know that the directors behind those shorts are not recognizable and can sometimes stumble through their speeches of acceptance. I know the audience can be impatient to catch an actor, director or film that they actually care about. I know that knocking against shorts is usually that they are all dark and depressed. But this is the biggest night in the films we are talking about! They nominated deserve to be there. The filmmakers reached their profession and in some way, they serve as a stand for the audience; Looking them on the world stage, we imagine how it must be as regular people to catch their shoulders with industry titans. It is Hollywood desires at best.

(The Oscars agreement with ABC expires after the ceremony in 2028, so this may be just a problem we will have to face in a year. Then, again, whatever the rights can be felt the same way as ABC.)
I personally would like to see the Oscars fully embrace the funny long shelf life and the ceremony to feel like an even bigger event than it already does. Do not punish other categories just because two glossy new ones come. Use the ceremony in 2025 as a template (It was long, but it ended before 11am ET! Keep the awkward parts of the show! Explain clearly that you really want this art form!), Premiere new trailers during the broadcast and generally use the platform to get the audience excited about the movies past, the present and the future. Enough dancing around trying to shave for a few minutes here and there. Hug the chaos and leave your movie freak by freaking it freak.
We talked a little bit about the announcement of an Oscar trick at today's episode of /film daily podcast:
