Warner Bros. and New Line recently launched a marketing campaign for "weapons" by launching a website in the universe, a viral website called "Maybrook News" on MaybrookMissing.com. This web site offers our first significant details of the film conspiracy, as well as some bizarre images and short videos. The homepage also contains an article in which the mystery is detailed in the center of the film.
"A stunning mystery has swept through the small town of Maybrook after 17 children voluntarily left their homes on Wednesday morning. Authorities are confused by the inexplicable disappearance, which rocked the community to its core," the article reveals, helping to set the table for the "weapons" events. The mystery deepens as the article continues:

After the investigation, footage from the front door camera showed that children were leaving their homes at 2:17am on Wednesday morning without any signs of force. Since then, little information has emerged, and the case has continued to confuse investigators.
"Since the city is struggling to understand what happened, officials continue to call the public for any waters, while Maybrook remains to wait for answers," the article concludes. All this is very intriguing and, given that The new line has won the rights of "weapons" in a competitive war to biddingIt is assumed that Creeger carries the goods. But the web site further reveals a big reason why this film may be worth investing.
How are the weapons and the barbarian connected?
Scrolling down, the web site contains another article, the one that makes it crystal clear that the "weapon" takes place in the same universe as "barbarian". The image of the article for the article is from Cregger's Twistered Twister in 2022, for beginners. "The underground prison discovered in renting at home," the second article said. This is where the connection really starts playing.

"Rental of property in the Detroit neighborhood has become the focus of the frightening investigation, after a local woman avoided her home under shocking circumstances and actor was found dead nearby," the article said. This is in a clear referral to the events of the film. The article further makes that crystal clear from Checking the name "barbaric" character of Georgina Campbell, Tess Marshall:
Police were warned after Tess Marshall, 28, was discovered injured and disoriented in front of the Barber Street property. What started as a simple wellness check, quickly turned into a great crime scene. Investigators have discovered a network of hidden tunnels under the home, raising questions about property history and potential links to unsolved disappearances dating for decades.

There are no two ways, these two films clearly take up the same space. As for how they are connected, exactly? It remains unclear at this point. What seems likely to be that both films take place in Michigan, with "Varvararia" going around Detroit. In Michigan, there is a Maybrook road, as well as Maybrook's property. Or Maybrook could be a fabricated place cooked by Creger. In any case, this web site has helped set up a possible universe of interconnected stories. It is something that the studio like Warner Bros. would probably be very interested.
The weapon may be the next 10 lane of Cloverfield
For a moment, we have a lot of questions. The Kreger and the studio maintain the mystery around this film protective fairly tightly. It should not be a huge surprise for anyone who has seen "Barbarian", a movie that was full of surprises. But with the information ahead of us, how this is this is the Cloverfield franchise more than anything else. More specifically, this feels like it can be More similar to director Dan Trahtenberg "10 Cloverfield Lane" from anything else.

Cloverfield was a huge footage in 2008. While we have yet to get a straight sequel, Trachtenberg's thriller for 2016 took place at the Cloverfield Universe, but focused on a completely different role in characters with a new premise. Another sequel/spin-off entitled "Cloverfield Paradox" was also published on Netflix, although the less talked about it, the better. In any case, it seems that Creeger could set the scene for something similar here, ie. A nasty universe with many storytelling and some connective tissue on the road.
Of course, it remains to be seen whether Creger remains creatively involved in future records in this universe (assuming it). The director is currently Preparing to restart the "Resident Evil" moviesIt should keep it at least by the end of 2026. But if the "weapon" is a hit, who knows? Perhaps he could return to this universe after Resident Evil for another terrible ride. Or maybe he will betray the reins to another director with another story to tell. In any case, this is an interesting development and potentially exciting, also depending on how things are going. Stay tuned.
