On December 16, Noida Authority Director General Lokesh M ordered a 30-minute penalty for residential land department officials after they turned away an elderly couple who came to the office seeking help.

The couple was reportedly left standing for 50 minutes without being attended to. The incident came to light as CCTV footage showed the elderly couple waiting while officials failed to provide the service.

After reviewing the CCTV footage and finding that the elderly couple remained unassisted for 15-20 minutes more, Noida Authority CEO Lokesh M ordered the residential plot officials to stay for 30 minutes as punishment.

A video of the incident that went viral on social media showed the employee serving the punishment. While imposing the sentence, the general director stated, "only when you work standing will you understand the difficulties faced by the elderly".
