This article contains spoilers For "Doctor Who".
"Robotic Revolution", the latest premiere of "Doctor Who", is a total chaos. The bad guys are too nonsense, most jokes do not land, and the social comment involving Alan (Nyoni Green)-new companion Belinda Chandra (Varada Setu) ex-boyfriend in Inkel, who is revealed to be the main villain-is clumsy and playful. I have no problem with a "doctor" having fun with toxic men like Alan, but a little more in the writing department there will be a long way here.

Perhaps the most endangered part of the "Robotic Revolution" is like Alan is defeated: Belinda presses his Starwoles Certificate from the past to her Starwell Certificate of the Future; Since it is the same subject that touches itself, this creates a time explosion that destroys Alan, it still leaves Belinda untouched. Why? Since the doctor (Nkuti Gatva) held Belinda, his time the Lord Energy was obviously protected from the blast. I mean, for sure, whatever it works.
After the disappointing final in Season 14 (or Season 1, depending on whether you still consider the current "Doctor who" its own show from the rest of the 21st century rebirth), many fans hoped the Russell T. Davis will knock him out with this kind of haki resolutions. There is no such happiness, it seems.

The "Robot Revolution" gives fans at least one reason for hope, however. Not only is Belinda fun to hang out, but she is also written and a little different from the typical "Doctor Who" companion. Of course, there are some more mysteries about her to be solved (not just why she looks true like Mundy from The 2024 "boom" episode), but her conversation in Tardis with the doctor makes it clear that Belinda is more interesting than your average companion.
Unlike other companions of a doctor who should not find yourself
A typical bow for companions, at least in the 21st Century Doctor, is one of the increased confidence. Returning to Rose Tyler (Billy Pepper), most companions began to think they were no one special, just to discover that they were tighter, smarter and colder than they thought. In the case of Martha Onesons (Frem Agiman) specifically, her bow was for her understanding that she should not deal with what the doctor's return was. Similarly, Amy Pond (Karen Gillan) had to learn not only Her childhood crush and idolizing the doctorBut also to accept, she could not build life around waiting for him to continue to return. Doctor's companions may not be children, but their stories generally hit the same narrative strokes on the typical age story.

Meanwhile, Belinda feels like she's getting older. She knows what she is and has a healthy respect for herself. She is impressed by Tardis (Because who wouldn't be?) But she didn't see the doctor with a miracle with wide eyes we expected to expect new companions. Instead, she immediately looks at the "robotic revolution" as a flaky liar, a dangerous person who should not spend too much time. Belinda appreciates his help during the episode because he knows it is necessary, but he does not intend to take things away.
Perhaps the most memorable moment in the premiere is when she points out how the doctor scanned his DNA, even if he didn't ask. We grew up so accustomed to the doctor to do such things that it is tricky to see someone telling him no. It is a moment that requires us to think about the past cases of a doctor's carelessness, as when he leaves Amy 12 years (and then two) in the "eleventh hour" or when he accidentally causes a year of life to her life in the "aliens of London". Neither Rose nor Amy held these mistakes against the doctor for so long, but Belinda would.

It's not just because Belinda got stronger boundaries; She also does not run away from anything. Indeed, most companions start in unfortunate life situations, at that moment the doctor offers them a chance to escape. Belinda, on the other hand, already has a happy life at home and does not want the doctor to knit.
There is no clear happy end to Belinda of a doctor who (what promises)
Part of what makes the first episode of Belinda so interesting that, well, she's right. We have known the doctor for decades at this point, but while we can trust him to save the day as we can, we cannot trust him to be careful. He indirectly got killed more companions, he always lies about something, and his quasi-traveler for time left him with very little respect for people's regular time. He can reduce stealing a year of Rose's life because it is nothing for him for a year. But one year is a significant part of Belinda's life, and she is not cool with him to mess.

This means that the best scenario for this season is that the doctor learns to be more honest and careful. However, the most likely scenario is that Belinda will reduce its standards. Unfortunately, it is easy to imagine a bow where she loses some of her claims and self -esteem, allowing herself to get into the doctor's lifestyle and allow her to go through it (as the doctor unwittingly does in most of his relationships). It is intriguingly potentially framing the dynamics of the doctor/companion-thats where the doctor is clearly bad and we take root for the companion to cut off her life.
The closest to this kind of dynamics of the show is Martha, which allows the doctor to treat her incessant all season before leaving for his own conditions, only then did he seem to have earned his respect. The difference is that Martha's decision was the culmination of the development of character worth the season, while Belinda makes the same decision in her first episode. The only reason she will still be around next week is because the boring Tardis refuses to bring her home.

We are used to the doctor to bring out the best in his companions, but rarely when we see how to take the worst out. It is not clear which direction "Doctor Who" will go with Belinda, but the fact that the slide already feels possible is quite unique. (Enena Coleman also had a pretty dark bow like Clara who saw her getting too much like the doctor and dying as a result, but it was pretty late in her race.) We had only one episode of Belinda, but she was already the most promising companion we had for years.
