Playing the black mirror of season 7 gives the bandersnatch only half a sequel

This post contains spoilers For the "Black Mirror" Season 7.

When the news emerged, the long -standing series of Netflix Dystopia "Black Mirror" would have been Re -sightseeing of the world of "Bandsnac", Speculation was widespread. Will the subsequent episode take over the same format-you your own format as the important interactive film seven years ago? Would you choose one of the multiple endings of that story as a "real" end and continued from that point, or would it be accepted the effect of the butterfly and its many branched paths? The truth, it turns out, is much more intense.

The episode in question, "Playing", opens up by accelerating a police meeting just as it would be a typical procedural crime. Viewers see Cameron Walker (former Starwar "Doctor Who" Peter Capaldi) - an unstable older man with long, gray hair and a meek attitude - they are raised to buy a bottle of wine in a convenience store. Officers use some convenient technology technologies to identify it as a suspect in the cold case of the 90's, and as soon as Cameron is arguing in the interrogation room, the episode begins to turn its speeds by telling a thin story very slowly. That story, to some extent, brings us back to "Bandersnatch".

Playing Paying Oral Service to the World of Bandersnatch

The only real connective tissue between "Game" and "Bandersnatch" is the presence of Will Pulter, whose innovator of blond technology, which has been recently told, recently recovered from the defect. There are no signs of Stephen's Fion Whitehead, the programmer whose life was tied to knots (and in some versions of the story, ended) with the task of video games with multiple choices he took from Colin in 1984. A decade later, Colin returned to the gaming industry, still working with Asim Chaudri, Mohan, and happy to miss another minority for an indispensable man. In this case, it is Cameron (Lewis Griben in retrospectives), which soon becomes fixed to a digital "experience" that has a legion of a cute 8-bit characters called tronglets. Colin, meanwhile, is not even central to the story to get a second scene - his absence is eventually explained by a third party.

Several episodes of the "Black Mirror" took something cynical look at IP and franchised art, so it is ironic that this episode feels like paying the most perfection of the Bandersnatch lip service. It seems that someone in Netflix will only allow season 7 if he has revised his past paragraph (see also: "USS Kalister: In infinity"). A half -baked hour of ideas that Brooker has done better before, "Game" includes scenes of obvious comprehensive delusions, AIS rights talks and the misunderstood genius is turning into violence. Nothing here feels particularly innovative, nor new about the series. Even Easter eggs - posters for titles like "hit Wipers II", "Space Fleet" and "Bandersnatch II" are shown in the Takerzft office - they feel telephone.

The episode can be a black mirror in the most telephoned in

While "Bandersnatch" framed his main character as a psychologically tormented man who sees things that no one believes in, "Plaything" updates the book of the game sometimes so little by making a cameron psychologically tormented by a man who sees things in which people eventually have Let's believe in. Thanks to the not -so -durable turnaround, its potential misconceptions caused by the LSD of the AI -hungry AIs affect the whole world. In the last moments it is that "Game" proves to be just half a story, wrapped just when it was to be interested after having a better part of an hour, showing that they are steaming police officers who hear a cowardly old man tell a surprising story.

Its unusual black cutting leaves us with a few unanswered questions, but - in perhaps the highest indictment for the episode - they are not interesting enough for us to wonder for a long time. "Bandersnatch" was far from perfect, but at least he was bold; "Plaything" is a lukewarm debris, in a universe tie of the most famous tangential species. It is also just a kind of silly. Move yourself, Season 4 Murder witness guinea pigs - Tamagchis's mind control is here to look for their title as the most stupid concept of "black mirror" still.
