One of the best films in 2025 is the 2007 short film adaptation

Structurally, the short film, "The only and only herb McGuier plays the island of Wolis", is incredibly similar to the great version. It is only 20 minutes long, but many of the story of the story, and even the jokes and lines of the dialog is exactly the same, so it's a fascinating thing to see the story of expanding and seeing a new character (Nell of Kerry Muligan) added to the narrative.

Recently I sat down over a zoom with Tim Kid and Tom Basden, who also wrote Starvellev in both versions of this story and asked them about the trip to bring this project to life all these years after the short. Tom Basden explained how the story expanded in the years to intervene:

"When we made the short, the script was probably just about 10 or 12 pages, and then the short camera out of look at the time and going, 'Huh, IF WE JUST DI. Couple more times, we'd probable have a story film '(...) It sowed the seeds for us, that like,' ok, we really got something from those characters and real got quite a special dynamic here with this man, so we we we we we we we Should definitely come back to that. ' And then, pretty smart (sarcastic), we didn't go back to the best part of about 15 years.

Then, in 2020, during the lock - but I think we talked about whatever - we rethinked the notes we made when we finished the short and thinking about it as a function, and we started writing the script and to hit this idea of her former friend who was a former friend who was also a friend. which is a little more manipulative than just organizing. Suddenly, the film opened to us, I think. Suddenly we realized that it was an opportunity not only to tell a story of an artist and a fan who really does not go on, but about the lost Loveub and nostalgia and longing for things from the past and to move on. I think that as soon as we discovered it, we were really excited by the scale we thought the film could have ever had. "
